AFV and Hobby Fan just posted an image of an injection molded M60A2 turret on Face Book. So their A2 must be in the works. Hold on to your cash folks.

Exciting to finally see more M60 variants! Does anyone know the other M60 variants which will be covered?

So is this a reboxing from the kit I remember seeing in the early 90's? or something new? Either way time for a "star-ship".

I'm thinking that you're remembering the "Starship" that you saw in the early '90s was the TAMIYA M60A2? I don't know that I've EVER seen HOBBY FAN/AFV CLUB do a re-boxing of someone else' kit. Re-boxings are usually TAMIYA TERRITORY and charging correspondingly HIGHER PRICES- Example: ITALERI, HASEGAWA and FINEMOLDS kits with TAMIYA logos and new art-work on the box top, such as the HASEGAWA 1/48 Hurricane Mk.I(?), ITALERI 1/48 Ar.196 and FINEMOLDS' 1/35 Type 95 "HA-GO". That's the kind of thing that I stay away from...

However, there MUST be other companies that are putting their name on stuff that was originally made by someone else. I can't remember any others at the moment...

No, I believe if AFV Club follows their usual pattern like with the Centurions, Strykers and Churchills they will be releasing a new tooled M60A2 based on their awesome A1 kit.

I will keep my eye out for the kit either way. I only asked about the rebox since I have only recently been back in the model game and got the Hobby-Boss BRDM that was a Dragon that had Revell stamped on the sprue. It went together well but didnt know if it might be cheaper buying the "older" kit. Thanks all

In fact AFV Club released a few kits that included Academy kit parts, but those were never simple reboxes, but rather conversions using the Academy parts as a base for a different variant.

Hooby Boss BRDM?... You probably mean "Cyber Hobby". Cyber Hobby is just a brand that Dragon Models use for some of their product lines. So it wasn't really a rebox, as CyberHobby and Dragon are one company.

Am in the process of building AFV's M60A1. Very detailed but going together very nicely.

I built the old ESCI starship in 72 scale when I was a kid, I will most definately get myself one of these.

There's something about the way this thing looks that catches my eye and I'm also partial to MERDC schemes as well so this will be a win win situation.

Cheers Ben

I'm excited to build it, but sad at the same time because i'm the only sap that decided to go all out for accuracy on the Tamiya dog.

It's the age old modelling problem... you're just putting the finishing touches on the oldie kit of your favorite tank and then suddenly those dipbags in charge of the release schedules think it would be just amazing to sudeenly announce a new tooling of the subject

At least you got yours finished, Brian. Fine work it was too.

I collected all the parts, measurements and photos I needed and haven't got much beyond the hull. Still, at least I have the data to assess the new kit's accuracy. I seem to have quite a few projects like that....

Oh no, you were not the only one. I built this about 20 years ago. Decals may not be that accurate

Yup, me too. Esci hull and tracks, Tamiya turret, lots of scratch...

Don't know if I will do another with the AFV Club kit or not. It looks like it will be nice though.

Based on those silly CBSS bulges I started selling about 20 years ago, there should be dozens of builds out there...

You mean there are dozens of your CBSS bulges in people's stashes that will never be used now that the two new kits were announced

I've got an Adler turret & Esci hull in the works, so I'll finish that because there's nothing "wrong" with it. But I may have to do a second one with the AFV kit!
