I have all the main assemblies done. I primed the model in primer white and then laid down the basecoat of Tamiya Buff. I will be shading the basecoat with the Buff color mixed with a few drops of Dark Brown. I am working on the road wheels right now (don't have pics yet).

I am not sure if I am going to use the kit decals or try some of my dry transfers I have lying around.

p.s. this is not the model that I doing for the Abrams ID group build. I have been working on this one, off and on, for about 6 months

Chris, I have this kit and plan on using it for the Abrams build. Any tips? How is the overall fit and quality?

Thanks

Steve

Hey Steve. As far as the fit goes, I'd give it about a 6 or 7 on a scale of 10. The quality is medium and although a lot of guys on here will agree that it has some inaccuracies, it is fun to build and for the price you can beat it. I paid around $19. You can also do alot of updating, which will make it more accurate. I am not sure if there is an update from Eduard or someone of the likes. Might have to do some scratchbuilding. I mainly build this kit to work on my painting skills (preshading, in particular) and weathering techniques (washes, in particular). Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Yep I built this kit a while back ( 1st time building a Trumpter) . Worth the $ , one small thing that I see that needs to be fixed : The MRS ( Muzzle refference sensor ) - the small part on the end of the gun tube - it appers to be on backwards . I know -" Dang tanker telling me how to build my kit " ( J/K ) . Other than that looks good . Drive on - Toad out

Does this kit have the correct shape of the left front side of the turret? It is not quite clear on your pictures, but I'm afraid it has the same problem as their M1A1 kits. As you didn't paint the model you, you still should be able to correct it with some styrene sheets.

The bottom edge of left front armor plate of the turret should be parallel to the upper edge. In Trumpeter Abrams kits the lower edge is canted and it is lower closer to the barrel and higher near the side of the turret.

Having to correct flaws in a kit is the best way to get a feel for scratch building. But be warned that with this you will find yourself wanting to scratch everything.
