I'm building the kit oob and I followed the instructions for a change but after I got it painted I put the road wheels and tracks on and something don't look right. Has there been a problem with the finished model sitting too low? Maybe its just me and it looks off since I haven't tied down the tracks to replicate track sag yet. The tracks also look to be really loose.

Hard to answer without seeing your build. The actual vehicle sits pretty low in reality. Doing the same kit but not as far along yet.

I'll have to take pictures later, but I did find a measurement that said the M109 is 120.43 inches tall which scales out to about 3 7/16 inches tall. I measured the kit and got just over 2 inches tall. Maybe I'll just live with it.

Hi,
your problem can only be solved with knowing the nominal ground clearance. This is, according to fas.org,

Ground Clearance: 18 in(0.45M)

So, the M109 only appears low which might be caused by the long running gear without return rollers.

Hope you get your problem solved!

As said before, photos would really help. Failing those, the one thought that came up for me is: did you perhaps switch the torsion bars, left for right, which would result in the roadwheels sitting far too high?

ok I wrote my math down wrong, but either way height and ground clearance checks out. I figured out what was wrong, the vyvnil tracks where 3 links too long and the lossness of the tracks threw me off.

Sorry for the bad cell phone pics, anyways after I took these pics, I took three links out of each side and sewed them back together. I also glued the tracks to the top of the roadwheels and it looks a lot better.

why does the second photo look so strange ?
The wheels seem odd .. The track is not glued atop the road wheels there is it ?
I think another 1 or 2 links need to go away again .

PS - I thought maybe you were comparing overall height to the hull deck height - accounting for the 50 " , but it appears the turret is under 50 inches tall ( ? )

Vince--your tracks are still too loose and the wheels don't look level.

If you want to see what the track should look like on the kit, take a look at my build log:

Here are some pictures I took this morning with a better camera of my fixed tracks.

That looks better--you may still want to glue or tie down the track to the top of the wheels so it doesn't float unrealistically.
