Maybe using the sleeve of an electrical wire?

I was just about to suggest the same thing. If you have any broken electronics around, take them apart, it's quite likely there's some right diameter wire used in it.

Then electrical wire should be fine, specially if you can get the one that comes with a single wire inside (not the stranded one), it will help to form the shape you want and keep it.

Do you really need a vinyl tube. Perhaps solder or a copper wire in the same diamter could do the trick?

Electrical wire is good. If you really need a pipe buy 1mm shrink tube at an electronics supply shop. If you heat it with a heat blower or a lighter it will shrink exactly to 1mm inner diameter and about 1,2mm outer diameter. One tube is normally 75cm long and costs a few cents.
