You might try ebay or Kits 'N' Things to find the PEERLESS MAX/TESTORS-ITALERI/BILEK 1/35 WC-54 Ambulance kit. Have no fear, as the kit was originally molded by PEERLESS MAX; ITALERI then acquired the kit, which was subsequently picked up by TESTORS. Later, TESTORS released this kit with an ITALERI logo incorporated on the box alongside the TESTORS label. In the meantime, BILEK also picked up the kit, and finally, ITALERI re-released the kit under their own label once again...

IMO, I STILL think that the time is ripe for an "all new, state-of-the-art" Dodge WC-54 Ambulance kit. AFV CLUB would be the logical choice, since they picked up the original SKYBOW WC-series Dodges, i.e, the WC-56/57 Staff Car, WC-57 Weapons Carrier, and the WC-62/63 6x6. The SKYBOW/AFV CLUB Dodges are EXCELLENT kits, BTW. While we're on the subject of the WC-series Dodges, a new M7 Tank Destroyer, which mounted a shielded 37mm Anti-Tank Gun would also be nice...

Yes, you're right! Still half-asleep, I guess...

Coat tailing on the makers of those 1/35th Dodge variants, there was also TOMY: who also had most of the Dodge line. Their appearance is around the time when PEERLESS, MAX, etc., had their releases (mid to late 70's). If any comparison can be made...TOMY kits were damn near an exact duplicate of the others. Like the Testors/Italeri M-47, all those kits had pretty sweet detail for the day...and still stand the test of time. The aftermarket could certainly brings along the details even better. 1/35th TOMY kits can still be found on EBay (still got one or two in the stash).

Anyway, yes, really well done there. The weathering looks so real. It's a dusty workhorse.

Whoa! Cool your jets. It's the tangential posts like the ones above that make this forum so helpful and enjoyable. It can't always be about your model.

BTW...nice job on the WC-54.

Max first made the kit, later to be co produced as Peerless Max, then reboxed by Tomy and Airfix. Finally Italeri actually bought the molds rather than simply rebox them. Testors and Revell acted as US distributors hence the co-labelling. Bilek reboxes from Italeri and they have made their own Dodge cargo and radio vans..not too sure how accurate those would be. Indeed virtually all of Italeri's early kits were Peerless Max and Heller. Btw the Italeri ambulance is currently available as well as from Bilek. The only addition that really needs to be made is adding door handles which, bizarrely, are not on the doors!

It looks splendid! Excellent mud splash and rain streaking.

Quite right that this was the Peerless Max, then Italeri thence Testors. I built several of the P.M. kits before Italeri got them; I recall Italeri simplified the transmission and drive shafts and suspension.

I also think the gun tube of my P.M. 155mm is an aluminum tube, whereas the subsequent kits molded them in plastic. But it has been decades since I built them and about 10 years since they were packed up.

As the subject of the build is the WC-54 it's not off the subject to talk about the history of the kit or what the future of the kit may be.
As to the build. Sancar nice job, the weathering is just right to show a front line ambulance in daily use.
As to the kit YES it time for a new state of the art release.
AFV comes to mind, would love to see what Bronco could do with it. As long as I have the soap box I'll put in my pitch for some thing in 1/24 scale.

Im definetly agree about handles. Unfortunely, the kit doesnt have the door handles. I was lazy to scracth it..
