Hi gents,

Here is my new project, which is my take on CHAMPAUBERT, one of the 3 M4A2 of 501 RCC, that entered Paris at night on August 24th, 1944.

This will be done using :

I started with the chassis





I removed the side turret hatch, which is not part of the actual CHAMPAUBERT.







Then I thought the turret casting was way too thin on the kit and decided to add this with Tamiya white putty thinned with acetone. The result looks good enough for me. But making pics of a white surface is a photographer's nightmare !









This is where I am at the moment.

The hull is glued (upper and lower parts)

All the rollers are in place (that was long, with 12 parts per bogie)

Hi,

Here are some paint news...













After this preshading I painted it OD, using Tamiya XF62 with some yellow X8 added in the mix. I sprayed 3 very diluted layers to deal with the transparency level more easily. I stopped spraying when I thought it was ok.

While drying, the paint got a bit darker, and now I wonder if I may not spray a lighter layer to highlight a bit the upper parts of the hull and turret...

To my eye your Sherman looks great. I was curious about how you pre-shaded. The photos look like you painted the high points with white over black?
