I noticed that every picture I've seen of this vehicle has the same solid green color. What is it, and is it the only color scheme for this vehicle (which I find hard to believe)?

Tom,
The color is Army Green (FS34094). It is available from several model paint sources such as Vallejo and Ammo by MIG. There have been a few CARC tan painted Strykers but they are the exception to the normal green vehicles.

All operational Strykers are painted Forest Green. Only a couple were painted CARC Tan as part of a test the Army did in '09. The results were not favorable and they were repainted green after the test. The above vehicle is one that was tested.

Thanks! I live not far from an Illinois National Guard vehicle storage base and noted there are a bunch of tan M1117 armored cars, but no Strykers. Other vehicles such as trucks and trailers are either in the 3-tone camouflage or tan.

Yup, Strykers are an oddity. They also have semi-gloss white interiors. All other APCs I know of are Sea Foam Green on the inside. Usually, only tanks are white inside.

Why were the results not favorable, Heavyarty? I would think this colour would do better in a desert environment than the green version.

I don't remember what the reasons were, but the test failed and all Strykers remain in overall green.

For a 100% match to the CRAC Green used is Tamiya NATO Green( compared with a actual paint sample to paint out of the bottle), but for 1/35 scale will have to lighten the colour to get a proper scale match. The colour will fade over a period of time, and will see various colours on the same vehicle.

I think it could have been a money, time, and logistics issue...to repaint all the Strykers from green to tan would have diverted funds from other Stryker projects at the time, and then the Strykers would have to be shipped there for painting and back to theater would require money, time, and scheduling. Even with refit, the purpose was to get the Strykers fixed and with double-V hulls, not to make them tan. So just leave them all green to save on time and manpower. My guess...
