Question- Is this only an export version of the ITAS? Does anyone know what this TOW EagleFire is about?

Best regards-S

Intended for international customers. The article states that it is lower-cost alternative to the current ITAS used by the US military. It is for international user to bring their older TOW 2 systems up to more-current specs w/out buying the ITAS.

"...EagleFire is designed to bridge the capability gap between the older TOW 2...and Raytheon's higher-spec M41 TOW Improved Target Acquisition System (ITAS) launcher, which he said "is significantly more expensive than the TOW 2 system and might not be affordable for international customers".

Thanks for the reply Gino. Wonder if anyone knows of more photos out there? Looks like the optic/sight is the only visible change?

Additionally, the new launcher will enable international customers to use the new wireless TOW missiles that are now being used.

I believe these were shown on recent newscasts seriously tearing up Syrian armor. New rebel weapon acquisition....

Cheers!

It's not hard to find those videos - hundreds of them, but there's still no shortage of tanks over there.

Wouldnt that mean it would need a new name?
