Hello All. I'm Anna. I've been a fan of the GDW pen-and-paper roleplaying game "Twilight:2000" for some time, and since I love painting miniatures and building models, I've decided to do some things in 1:35th scale.

Here's my first finished figurine:
She's a tanker-type with the 49th Armored Division, somewhere in Oklahoma, around 2001. I converted her from Black Dog's US Woman Soldier, with a head from Toro Model's Polish Tank Crew, and accessories from Trumpeter, Tamiya, and Dragon. The rifle is the M231 Port Gun from the M-16 Family set.

I should have more to show soon, I'm W-i-P on several more figurines, and about 1/2 thru construction on an M48A5 re-fitted for service in the Twilight War.

Interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing more. T2000 gives you an opportunity to depict destroyed vehicles, ruined buildings, etc. in the US.
Is the 49th Division fighting for CivGov or MilGov?

Never mind, I just looked it up. For those interested: http://twilight2000.wikia.com/wiki/Milgov_(1st_Edition)

Is that Jennifer Aniston from her latest film, "Nipples of Death"?

Hi, thanx.

49th was MILGOV, but they had a lot of desertions starting in 2001. I've seen fan-work where a senior officer manages to keep roughly a Brigade of effectives in action for MILGOV after that.

I think I'm going to build my Tamiya M60A3 that Mom bought me for a gift as 49th Armored, as well.

I was hoping to show the W-i-P on my M48, but I can only get good photos outside, and it's *really* windy today. XD

It's the Academy M48A5K, and it's been pretty nice to build so far. In my kit, the rubber roadwheel sprue had actually damaged the plastic roadwheel sprue, so I've replaced them with Legend's resin M48 roadwheels. I'm adding Bronco T-142 tracks, I think I need new drive sprockets to fit.

I found some fan work on how the Twilight War is going in Africa, and there was an entry about how the 173rd Airborne had been sent to Kenya, and sometime in 2001 they were re-inforced by the remnants of 2nd Brigade, 2nd Armored, and a few M48A5s that were originally earmarked for Turkey. So, that's my idea for this tank. I'm planning to show it worn & weary, with a non-standard camouflage scheme ala "The US Army Vehicle Guide" sourcebook from GDW.

I hope to get photos taken soon.

I used to play Twilight:2000 (and Merc 2000 and Dark Conspiracy) back in the early to mid '90s. Fun times. I did a couple of builds over the years based on the vehicles from the vehicle guides. My favourite would of been the LAV-25 PIVAD. Good luck with your builds

Nicely done. And I like outdoor photo shoot. I was big into T2000 in high school. I had no idea it was still going! That is very cool. I'd definitely be up for a campaign.

Cheers!

Hi Guys, and thank you. There are a few die-hard fans of T2K still around, it seems.

All my books were bought used and/or in pdf form, but I think the background and ideas are still my favorite of all RPGs.

I guess the fascination is: after the end, what do you do? How do you act? Are you a soldier, or a Barbarian? Plus, all the fascinating uses for Cold War weapons and vehicles.

If anyone is interested, I believe TW: 2000 can still be had in dead electron format (i.e. PDF) from DriveThru RPG.

Damon.

Yep, that's how I started. I've since found most of my favorite books used, plus the boxed wargame "The Last Battle".

Anna, since these factions must all operate the same Abrams, M-60s, M-113s, etc., how do they identify each other? They must have some kind of conspicuous identifying markings, or big flags, like the combatants in Syria's civil war.
At some point, being well camouflaged becomes less important than avoiding blue on blue incidents!

Hi - there aren't too many vehicles left by 2000-2001, but you're correct that there are quite a mix. One of the books shows a BMP captured by 49th Armored, flying a *huge* Lone Star flag.
When it comes to MILGOV vs. CIVGOV, some of the identifiers are printed brassards, and colored pennants. But it's true, in say New York State in 2001, that US Army MP unit you encounter? They might be MILGOV soldiers, or they might be a street gang with M-16s and an M113 or two.

Hi Anna,

Nice model. I like the soviet helmet on a Sooner.

I don't recall the name but I think maybe T2K - played it in the early 1980s. Is that when it came out?

Hey, thank you. She's probably a Texas Gal though. XD

T2K was released in the 80s, so I'm guess if you played a detailed militsary game then that it was probably T2K.

And yes indeed, GDW released a lot of great games, I was still playing Traveller in the late 90s, we had a GM that was devoted to it.
