Hi Guys,

I have been putting some detail work into an Academy M-113A3.
I want do make it a M-113A3 as used in the beginning of OIF.

Photo etch, resin and some scratch building was added going on the reference material I have to go by to add as much detail as possible.

As far as I can see I got most of it but never have being up close to a M-113 I would lie to get some feedback from the experts.

Are there any fittings or detail I have missed or should remove?

In the end I want to add a trailer filled up with gear, that is why I deployed the towing unit.

I haven't added the IFF panels but those will be added later as well.

Any feedback from people in the know is much appreciated, as is pointing out any other mistake I have made or missed.

Thanks in advance,

JW

Wow, this is impressive. If you will be showing the roof troop hatch open, I would suggest you add the inside lip around the hatch. I can not tell if you removed the bolts from the outside part of the roadwheel rim. On A3s they usually did not have the bolts.

I see you have plastic of resin grab handles. Where are those from?

What unit will you be depicting?

Thank you Rober,

I did not know the wheels were different on the A3 version.
The wheels in the photo are those the older version or the newer A3 ones?

I am keeping the roof troop hatch closed.

The tie-downs / Footmanloops are from Arms Corps Models. Great littler resin items. http://www.armscorpsmodels.com.au/

I don't have a unit in mind. I'll try and copy the markings from one of my reference photos.

Thank you for your input.

The photo I attached is an OIF1 A3 track. I would never say that that all A3 wheels look like this since I am not that much of an expert, but after researching two different A3 OIF1 projects I noticed this detail.

If you are going to have it pulling the trailer, you need to reverse the trailer wheels so the track is wider.

Re the road wheels. If they have a row of rivets around them, it is the earlier version of aluminum/steel. If there are no rivets, they are all steel.
The rivets are are on the earlier ones due to the wear plate (this is made from steel)on the back of the wheel.
The steel road wheels do not denote A2 or A3 or A whatever. Just a manufacturing version.
Although the "lip" around the rubber part should be removed.

IMHO, this would be OK for a Vietnam War trailer, but the OIF pics I've seen so far, like the one below, don't show this configuration....

Thank you guys,

I did hear that on some trailers they revered the wheels. I looked at the possibility on doing this but opted not to because of the reworking that had to be done. Not that good at reworking resin.

Cheers
