He guys,
Thought I would share my Chieftain with you.
Al tough it is a nice model out of the box I did decide to add some more detail.
I am going for an Iranian one so I wanted a beaten up finish.
Replaced all the latches with PE from Eduard and opened up some of the lids. I am replacing the tracks with Friuls.
Still some more work to be done before going off to paint.
The full build will end up in a future issue of SMMI
Cheers,
JW

Have you seen these tracks from Master Club? This is what I will be using on my build.

It could just be me but it don't look like there is much room under the fenders for the tracks?

@ Kevin
Those look great. Didn't know those where out.
If I had know it would have saved me a lot of work. I am having to use a motor tool to damage the Friuls. I have started on those so I'll keep with them but for any future Chief they will be certainly a set I will want to use.
@ Paul.
There isn't a lot of space under the fender but as far as I can see it is how it should be. Besides that the downward angle of the photo makes it look like there is even less clearance.
Cheers,
JW

Having served on these beasties, I can tell you there is very little clearance under the side skirts. Cant wait to see this all painted up. Nice work.

Very well done. Anxious to see it painted. Just added it to my wish list.

Those tracks are very sharp looking. I've seen the add for the worn track pad version too. What is the retail price?

Excellent build Janwillem- I plan to get the Mk.5 as well so its great to see it built up and with some fantastic detailing added to it. How did you find the build overall?

Thanks guys,
@ Karl
Building it out of the box the kit is a real shake and bake one. no real issues with construction and the amount of parts make t that you can get it built in no time

@ Karl, again.
I would compare the Takom kit with Tamiya in terms of design. Good detail where visible, parts that are hidden or barely in view more simple in construction and the focus is on a good build-able model

Is the presence of the Muzzle Reference System correct for an Iranian MK5?
