Hi Matthew,

I've never seen those photos before. If the Bovington Pz II was altered either in NA or at the museum it sure looks like they had in theater examples to follow. Nice pics. Also I seem to remember the turret bins being similar or identical to the Pz III turret bins so a little creative engineering on the maintenance crews would not be out of place. However the above photos also seem to indicate that some were installed on late Pz IIFs. I always like learning something new. So for me its pretty much settled. Use the bins if you want to. I like the look of the turret bin on the tank.

Excellent build all the way around.

Available pics of Ausf Fs with turret bins are not that many. As per Pz Tracts 2-3, Ausf Fs produced in Feb '42 had it, and ceased to have it by May of the same year. Cheers

Wow - Matthew kept those pics under your hat - thanks for the clarification on the stowage. I remember seeing that two bin PzIII as well. Seems like Tamiya's markings may be a bit suspect as well - oh well they're on now.

You know, I didn't even notice the markings, but yes it is this exact tank Tamiya are portraying, but the decals are slightly off. A number of the photos in this book do appear to be of tanks captured by the British, and photographed while under evaluation, I think that's why the gun has been removed. That was what made me think to check the photos. I read somewhere else that Bovington's tank was from 10 PD, so sure this is theirs. Only appears to confirm that there was at least one in theatre example like this, but it is correct for Simon's tank. Wonder why Bov decided to repaint it like they did.

Ok gentleman - here's where we are at the moment. Highlighting, washing and chipping complete - what are your thoughts - does it need any more treatment?

(Sorry about the poor lighting)

Simon,
It looks great to me. The only thing I would add is the radio antenna. Thanks
John

Thanks John - I'll probably add that last as it will be delicate! I still have quite a lot of 'tweaking' to do! Working on the commander at the moment.

Simon, your PZ2 looks great as is. Nice the way you have done the weathering and the way you have brought it along. Love the DAK subjects and yours is a great job on an old kit. Hope my next DAK paint job comes out half as good as yours. Very inspiring build and thank you for sharing with us. Best regards.......Dale

Chanced upon this over at ML:

Seems to further support that there have been Pz IIs that had bins on the left side.
