I have finally completed the Dragon 234/3 that I reviewed a while back. Generally, things went well. I think the instructions had the parts backwards for the front and rear pair of wheels and the pre-formed wire for the brake lines was not pre-formed enough as it took a bit of bending to get it into place. Unless the wheels are fixed in place firmly the slender steering rods are very fragile and will break, leaving the wheels flapping back and forth. The etch locks for the side storage bins are tiny and fragile. With two sets of magnification I still couldn't see the parts to align them properly and the locks and chains all broke off during the painting and weathering as I handled the kit.
I tried to scratch build batteries and the radio transformer. I forgot to add the wire to the antenna. Most of what I did is not visible now that it is all closed up.
Here is how it turned out for me.

Very nice work!! I like the dusty/faded look to the finished vehicle,, gives it the look of being on a French country road in the summer of '44.

Russ you've done a magnificent job on this tricky little vehicle. Theres so many things to comment on but I'm very impressed with the appearance off the camo pattern and paint and the overall dusty look you've achieved. Very nice detail, one to be proud of.

Thank you all for the comments. I tried to minimize wear and tear as I figured it would have been a newer issue vehicle and wouldn't have lasted that long.

Certainly beats the pants off the old Italeri version.

Very nice weathering. I noticed the tires are not the same -- are these AM ones? Cheers

Shell and Jason, thank you.
Tat, they are included in the kit. There are only 3 of the alternate tread pattern but the detail is much better.

Cool, thanks Russ. I must get me one of this. It's the Premium kit, right? Cheers

Tat, it is the Premium kit. Griffon just came out with a new etch set to go with this as well.

Got it, thanks Russ. Off to the LHS then! Cheers, Tat

Looks great! The German eight wheelers are one of my favorite afvs. I have this and the sdkfz 234/4 in my stack to build. Your post makes me want to start one of them. I jut recently picked up the griffon set for the 4, that set is almost intimidating with the amount of detail!
