Was the M2A1 ever used as a cargo carrier? I was thinking of something like a knocked out truck's cargo being loaded onto the half-track; as an opportune alternative in haste.

The Tamiya GMC 2.5 ton is still a solid kit. Or maybe something bigger with the Hobby Boss White/Corbitt 666 trucks or the Mirror Models Diamond T 968A cargo trucks?
