Do you just wash and dry-brush over decals? Everyone says to weather over them (markings got worn and torn too!) but common sense seems to tell me that if I wash or dry-brush over them I'll cover up the decal completely, or at least leave nasty stains or streaks on it....

seal the decal with gloss varnish and then drybrush/wash over them to give the weathering effect. after this seal it all with matt coat.

Agree with MrRoo. Seal first then weather with wash and DB. Just be careful not to overdo the decaled areas with your DB'n.

The only problem I have had was that sometimes the thicker decals (Tamiya) cause a ridge around the decals after drybrushing. Other than that, I treat the decals as any other part of the vehicle.

Wait, so first I spray a gloss coat for decalling, then I spray another gloss coat to seal them, then weather then dullcote to kill the gloss? Or do I do the dullcote before weathering? I've already done the first gloss coat and decalling on my project, but I'm not sure about when to dullcote.
