My first armour kit that didn't end up in the bin. Thoroughly enjoyed. Please tell me what I can do to improve.

Richard,
Your model looks good, but it's a Type 74.
The front piece of the searchlight appears to be slightly crooked to the back "box".
You might want to apply a coat of clear flat to tone down the shiny finish.

It looks nothing like a Type 96

It looks pretty good. The glossiness of the OD paints seems to be accurate compared to the photos I've seen.

I know that some older all-OD Green vehicles have/had a sheen to the paint finish, but Richard's Type 74 looks to me like it's a vehicle that is wet from rain, as opposed to a more satin looking finish. (pictures from the web):
