Some rumours said it has some connection with an ongoing project. Dont know how and why. Anyway it looks interesting. will wait and see who else will do the same.

By the way, I just noticed that their logo is "RMF", not "RFM"... huh?...
If you look closely at the logo, the R and F are actually superimposed on top of the M. So it is RFM, just a hard to read logo.
It's quite funny how this conversation is shaping up into the exact same conversation that happened when Rye Field announced their first Tiger I kit. "Why do we need another Tiger?", "I'll stick with Dragon's", "Dragon's is definitely more accurate", etc., etc. And yet from all I can gather, it and the second kit with full interior has sold rather well.
The comment "will this Abrams ever get released" is quite shallow - of course it will. Like the Tiger, RFM obviously knows there are already numerous kits on the market and Meng has one coming. Like the Tiger, they will probably price it very competitively and sell lots. It also has the advantage (at least with the information we know now) of having more options then the Meng kit (i.e. M1A1) and as already noted, if they follow the same path as the Tiger,a full interior version will get released too.
Nothing wrong with competition.

I wonder how the RFM Tiger 1 compares to the Tiger 1 kits?
In summary:
Good value for money.
Has a few problems with fit that you woulnd't get in a Tamiya.
Has some accuracy problems, some of them visible and annoying, others minor or fixable. Rye Field don't always fix the known problems for the next release.
The decals look good but their accuracy could be improved.
The worst aspect of an RFM kit is the research into specific vehicles. They tend to depict a single vehicle in somewhat wrong colours, and give you decals for several more vehicles, but they don't seem to study the specific features of the individual vehicles. Neither of their first two Tiger kits could exactly build ANY specific Tiger that ever existed.

That, sadly, could be said of many Tigers I've seen built, LOL.

Now we have two o kits of the exact same subject.
Actually 3 kits of the same subject; Tamiya's M1A2 SEP TUSK II is also the same tank.
It will be interesting to see if it actually comes out and how it compares to Meng's forthcoming kit(s).
When I said two kits I was referring to the fact that the Meng and now RFM can be built as a 3-in-1.
I do some 3D design work. Message me for more info on what I'm doing or have done. Inquire about a product catalog.

From what I gather, Meng's will not be a 3-in-1 kit, but separate kits for different versions. Their first kit is going to be the M1A2 SEP w/TUSK II version.

Well that's new to me I suppose. OK so this kit is sure to be interesting.

The box art on Facebook for Meng says M1A2 Tusk I/Tusk II. So it is more of a 2 in 1.

To be honest the only interesting thing (for me personally of course) in this announcement is that RFM will probably release a full interior version too, as they did with Tiger.
By the way, I just noticed that their logo is "RMF", not "RFM"... huh?...
having had the chance to gaze into the bottom of hell (a turretless M1a1 and an M1a2), I can safely tell you all that you might see bits and pieces of the torsion bar assembly at best. What you will see is a gazillion hydraulic hoses (seems that way anyway). The driver's hatch and all points beyond might be interesting (have seen that upfront and personal trying to get my four year old out of there). The interesting parts will be the main gun assembly and the rest of the junk that goes along with the turret basket assembly.
Right now Dragon is our best choice, and Tamiya is rather distant. I welcome the chance to see a couple new brand names to at least give the masses a choice. The Tusk means little to me like others have said. Yet an good M1a1 or an M1a2 opens my eyes. Lets hope that Meng or RFM does the whole shebang. We all would like a basic M1 IP, and I'd like the both XM1's (Chrysler and Allison).

.... why does everybody neglect the "cleaning up" part of the story ?
That will give you proper insight on "turret interiors" and detail

actually, I forgot all about the electrical cables running all over the place as well. Like you said not a lot to look for. The engine and gear box will be a kit in itself!

I'm still broke from buying both Meng Bradleys. Fattest times ever for modelers. I'll buy one of these in addition to every version Meng puts out.

One of my New Year's resolutions was "build more, buy less", but both this and Meng's M1 are exempt from that rule...

That's funny Ed, I've been saying that for couple off years and it's getting difficult by the month with all the new kits coming out left and right
