Just started a panzer 3 model and have the cmk conversion for it to make a Bergepanzer. That has the big wooden beams that sit alongside the top compartment. I've always assumed these were used very much like the WW1 unditching beams to provide traction to bogged down tanks but is that right?
Can't find any pics of the beam being used. It's certainly long enough and I can't think of what else it could have been used for.
Hopefully someone on here can help
Cheers

Ian,
Bergepanthers have a similar beam. In this case there are two square hard points on the nose of the tank and the beam is used when pushing other vehicles to avoid damage. Don't know if this is the intention on the Bergepanzer III.

I agree with Ian.

Thanks for the replies. Interesting on the Bergepanther. Would seem more than one use for the beam maybe.
