It is interesting to see Tamiya starting to add aspects that have been dropped by many of late. This does look a very promising model.

Great review. But most link'n'length tracks are usually moulded in with the other parts on the sprue, it's only full Indi links that always come on their own sprues.

Lol...yeah I did think that face looked a bit Putin-esque for sure.

Hi;
"NICE JOB JIM"-- The kit looks like it will be A Good one. The one question, I have to ask is Why A Three (3) part lower Hull Tub
Which makes me think its somebody else's Mold. Tamiya has never made A kit with A three part lower hull. IMHO it would have been Better with the Normal one part lower tub that we have come to expect from Tamiya
CHEERS; MIKE.

Tamiya is no alien to multi-piece lower hull parts, a good deal of the 1/48 scale armour feature multi-piece hull assembly and the 1/35 Marder III from 2001 had it AFAIK.
I can say with much certainty that the SU-76M be a great kit out of the box, should be quite popular with fans of self-propelled guns and WW2 Soviet armour. Most if not all of Tamiya's current generation of plastic model kit figurines benefit from 3D scanning technology. Perhaps they managed to capture Vlad's likeness using just that.

Flat molding allows the hull pieces to be thinner than if they were part of a tub. Tasca has shown that it is possible to make a multi-piece hull that fits together perfectly and I'll bet Tamiya is just as capable.

The last 1/35 release they did (M4A3E8) had an flat pack moulded hull too.

good review; cool subject; I concur with the comments on the hull; I just bought the new Easy 8 Sherman (#35346) and it has a multiple-piece hull; I prefer the "tub" style but Tamiya is known for solid fit so there shouldn't be any worries; anyway, nice new kit from Tamiya; just might have to think about picking one up

Excellent review, Tamiya has captured the essence of the "Suka" or "Suchka" I built the DML/Alan offering a number of years ago. Will be good to see how this one stands next to it in comparison. I'd like to see someone do a regular, fully enclosed SU-76 though.

VERY HAPPY Tamiya makes one now. I plan to get one. I have wanted an SU-76 since (don't snicker) playing Squad Leader. I had the Alan kit and thought it looked too traumatic to build. Sold it.
LOL - Tamiya isn't the first one to sculpt Vlad's face for a figure. Saw one in a review here just a week or so ago.

I have to stop watching these reviews. My dear wife already doesn't understand why I buy more kits than I build...and this one looks great. The tarp railing on the back is crying out for brass replacement though... :-)

Cool, didn't realize this was an actual Tamiya tool, just figured it was another company's kit reboxed into a Tamiya box.
Nice to see it is their own, I will likely bring this in to my shop now one it is out here.
