Hi,

I have the Tamiya's one and I was concern about how the M8 Armoured Car's crew used to avoid bad weather, rain or snow fall into the turret?

I only saw photos of "open" turrets, just with a semi-circle covers or act as a hatch.

They use some canvas?, any pics?.

TIA

There was a canvas foul weather cover that attached to the turret and closed off the opening. It was rarely used though since the crew could not access the .50 cal when it was on. Usually, the crew just put on a few extra layers when it was crappy weather.

Of course, I can't find any pics of it.

You can download the M8/M20 tech manuals here

I find reading these very informative. I'm sure there's info about how to use and store the canvas covers for the M8 and M20

Have never seen any photo reference for an all weather cover for the M8 however I feel sure it was issued with one! (Even the M10 tank destroyer was issued a canvas sun screen.)

Here is reference on the M20 and some years back Verlinden issued a resin "cloth" cover for the M20.

Here's a cover repro for the M8 turret :

Don't know if it's accurate for a WW2 cover though

That looks right. I figure if there is a pic out there somewhere, Frenchy will find it.

The 1943 TM talks about the canvas cover being attached to the turret with snaps so Frenchy's photo sure looks plausible for WWII.
