Hey Matt,
If I remember there is a turned aluminum barrel in the kit with no muzzle brake or threaded ring. Use that one. If you can, please post those pics I sent to your email since I still haven't gotten around to photobucket. That way the other guys can pick it apart and help with what I did right and wrong.

Rifling on a 76.2mm barrel is pretty small, grooves maybe 2mm deep. No doubt someone has measured them or has manufacturers' drawings but I don't have any accurate dims to hand though. That's around 0.06mm in 1/35, so might not be terribly visible if done to scale. Personally I always ignore it other than for things like the Sturmmoerser's 38cm weapon, where it is visible due to the larger calibre and the grooves are far fewer too. It is probably better (in my opinion) to have no visible rifling than rifling which looks over scale. And don't forget that it has a twist too, which is unlikely to be found on a model barrel costing a few dollars....

That will save me a few dollars. Is anyone in need of a 75mm M1 barrel from Voyager?

Mat
For the design history of the Sherman, Hunnicutt's Sherman book is a must have. For a scale modeler with interest in the fine details changes between the Sherman models (M4, M4A1, M4A2, M4A3 and M4A4) the book Son of a Sherman Volume 1, the Sherman design and development. Its a very large book, and a tad pricey, but it's still in print, when it goes out of print, it's going to be pricey I bet.
Anyway, you can also get a lot of good info at http://the.shadock.free.fr/sherman_minutia/
This is the most informative site on the Sherman tank on the internet.
You could also poke around my website, but I don't get into the fine details between tank models like the Minutia site, because they are just so good.

I'm currently building this kit too. I decided to use a set of their T48 pattern DS belt tracks, Panzer Art's late tranmission, E.T resin OVM and a few spare from the Tasca Shermans I own toimprove the to the less well made part of the kit. The incorrect front fenders are easy to replace with unused parts included on the kits sprues.
