In regards to that mold seam, God made X-acto knives for a reason!

I have also heard it's all new tool. About the only concern I have is that their older M4 VVSS suspension is in the box. Not a catastrophe, but I might cry a little...

Help needed: Went to posted links for photos of new M-10 but no images found?????

Hi, Mike! I tried online (not off of the link shown here on ARMORAMA) and a black & white photo came up showing a mock-up of a pre-production kit along with the figures. Might help you to go online. Most pictures are color one of the TAMIYA 1/48 M10. I expect the 1/35 kit will be much more comprehensive in content...

Hi, Pat!

I would hope that TAMIYA would come up with an all-new VVSS assembly for their new M10, plus optional earlier-style spoked Road Wheels, rather than stick with their older Road Wheels with the hollow backs, new Bogies, etc. Look at the great job that they did with their all-new Panther Ausf.D and their "Easy Eight"!

If you look at the pictures it appears to be all new VVSS ((Horizontal trailing arms) and even has the lower bolts.

Now that Tamiya's done this, I suppose Dragon will have to tool up for their version.

This particular kit is now up for preorder on some Japanese webstores but the release date is "undecided". Thus it may have been moved to July than June as previously announced.

The sprues and build up look great to me. I really love the figures. I've been holding off on purchases lately but I will grab this.

I have the "improved" 2nd release from ACADEMY (as yet, un-built), but that's not going to stop me from buying the new TAMIYA kit!

The only "problem" I see with the kit is that they didn't mold the engine deck separately so you can do a M10A1 or M36 Jackson easier down the road.

Since it's very possible that they won't release an Achilles version, what would I need to do to convert this M10 to an achilles?

I the only modifications I know of are the use of 17lb gun in place of the M7 and extra armour plates on the hull.

Aside from the all-important gun tube & breach, the main differences were equipment stowage - most everything in the turret and on the outside needs to be moved. There are pics & stowage diagrams out there to be googled.

When you replace the gun, the mantlet opening needs a filler plug (the 17pdr is much skinnier than the 3in tube) and the sight opening needs elongated upwards into a slot. Oh, and the ammo in the sponsons is stowed "naked" instead of in fibreboard tubes.

I don't know how many of these early "slope-in" turrets were used as 17pdrs, but most pics I've seen are of the later (roomier) vertical-rear turret with duckbill counterweights.

It is very interesting to see how they handled the suspension. Everything fit perfectly-just dropped the upper hull into place. Of course, it may not do that when I build it, but it is well thought out. The figures block the view of the driver's compartment, so I can see why it was left out. The tracks look sharper than the Dragon DS tracks.
