It seems there was an M35 at Aberdeen Proving Ground in '46, maybe it's still there.

Well, there's virtually nothing at Aberdeen anymore, it's all at Fort Benning now and not on display, but I was at Aberdeen a couple of times before the move and am pretty sure there was no M35 there by the early 2000's.

Basically ready for weathering. The interior is speculation based on Tankograd TM 6028 "U.S. WW II M10 and M10A1 Tank Destroyers" and Doyle "M10 Tank Destroyer In Action" I'm going to busy up the interior with more gear.
It represents a gun tractor of the 575th US Field Artillery Battalion, which was an independant 8" gun Battalion that took part in the Southern France, Ardennes-Alsace, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns.

John,
Thanks for a great topic. I've been wanting to do this 1/48 scale using a resin conversion kit. You've found more photos than I was able to find.
From my research there were types of 8" guns and I haven't figured out which is which. Your photos are a great help with that question.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Very NICE, John! I ESPECIALLY like the fact that you didn't over-do the weathering!

Hi Guys, I'm new to this forum and to this thread. But I possibly have some additional info for you. I started a website http://www.model-maniac.nl. If you look under the menu option building projects there are two projects that are interesting for this thread. One on the M35 Prime Mover and one on the 240 mm Howitzer M1 "Black Dragon". Btw I had to wait 6 months for the M1 Resin Kit from DESKit. Got it just a few weeks ago. But looks Good.

Just because a model company makes a kit of it, doesn't make it an important vehicle.

And likewise, just because a vehicle is "important" doesn't mean it's criminal that there isn't a mainstream kit of it.
