Hello everyone
My first time on this awesome site and I am looking forward to sharing lots of builds as I have been building aircraft kits mainly for the last 6+ years but really want to get back into armour modelling also plus I have noticed so many great new AFV kits in the past few years being released I couldn't wait any longer so here I am and to start with is this great new Jagdpanzer IV and some Mig products to boot as I was a little low on armour colours.

Cheers Lee

I got most of the work on the running gear and lower hull done and to get a little sag between the return rollers using the kit's one piece tracks I drilled 0.6 mm holes between each raised part of the tread and threaded 0.6 mm wire through the holes so it was possible to help the tracks keep the correct sag shape.
The wire should be fairly hard to spot once the fenders ect are on and the tracks are weathered up a bit

Back with more progress soon
Thanks Lee

Are you painting everything after assembly? I've always been afraid to try that with the running gear. I only did it with the turret and superstructure on my mst recent tank.

Lee that's a neat trick on achieving the sag. Learned something new today. Look forward to your progress on this one. Cheers, Tat

Nice job on the those tracks, those are rubber bands ? It's s a shame that Tamiya didn't provide Link and Length pieces for that upper run.But again, you did a nice job with the sag.

Lee,
I like the way you've put droop into your tracks. When I was a kid I would borrow a few pins from the sewing kit, bend them at right angles then heat the tips and push them through the plastic. Then glue them to the inside of the hull. Once the cement dried I would slip the tracks under the pins jutting out from the sides of the hull. They'd disappear under the paint and sponsons.

I don't mind Tamiya's tracks, as long as the paint sticks. I used Friuls a few months ago and found them a great alternative because they just seem so real.

Cheers,

Gaz

Friuls cost same or more than models that i can afford and for my economic standard that's just unacceptable so there's not much you can do than to make rubber ones look good

p.s. anyone tried that "hot water" technique for sag?

For my past attempts there is a simple equation:

hot water + kit parts = kit in the garbage

Hi Lee
The tracks came out great. I'm still wondering how you did it. I would like to try it next time I'm working on a kit with rubber tracks. Any tips would be welcomed by all.
Thanks and keep up the Good Work!

Thank you Don
It's just a matter of making holes and threading the wire through the holes but make sure the wire is stiff enough so it holds the rubber Tracks in the shape you want I used steel wire on these tracks.
Hope that gives you some idea cheers
