Hello guys,
This time I'll try to make a summer project - Flammpanzerwagen

I think, I'll take a try wiith the art.-box paint sheme - its equally interesting and difficult

Model has a two versions of the armor (rivetted and smoth).
I'll rather take a rivetted one - much more fun with the rusty rivets

The model will be on a small diorama, showing a one of polish buildings in late 1944 (building still exist in my town)

This building is my own product, so if You are interested in some plaster buildings let me know.

How is the plastic in that kit? Is it soft or harder like newer Dragon?

It's harder plastic. It's a really great kit if you can get the sides lined up right.

Ain't that the truth will their whole line of 250/x halftracks. Lining up those long sides takes more fingers and hands than we have.

Hey There!
The plastic is rather like all the Dragons I've made - harder and quite nice to cutt of, even the small elements like antenas etc.
I've made a couple of Dragos Kfz .250 (Neu and Alt versions) and there was no hard issues with the building proces.
I've once tried to replace the plastic tracks with the Friulmodel metal links, but it was a total mistake (the plastic ones are much better to fit and glue together).

They are good kits. And I agree that their tracks for the 250/x kits are very good. I just have a phobia about soft plastic.

Hello,
The Flammpanzerwagen is still in progress.
The wheels are ready

The base of the model is also in its early stage

The tracks are real time-eaters, but after clean up they will create a nice looking elements

I'm using as a refference a great publication about flammpanzerwagens.

Pozdrawiam

Actually I'm working with the interior. To make some contrast between the side walls and the floor I painted the floor with the panzergrey and the rest with dunkelgelb.

The main chipping work and scratches were on the places where the crew uis the most time while in combat etc.

I tried to compare the crew members the radio operator from Verlinden is a real mutant comparing to the Dragon's driver.

So I will use only the driver

Thats all for now.

From what I recall of this kit, even the Dragon driver doesn't fit very well when everything is in the driving compartment. After juggling around with him I gave up and cut his feet off - then he fits! The Verlinden figure looks to be about 1/32nd and a rip off of the ancient Tamiya half track driver.

I read about the Dragon's driver issue.
I'll see what I can do with him to make him fit to the model.
I think I will use the Verlinden one in other builds like Hummel or Marder with open space.

Steve, I used exactly the same fix. The driver, plus a spare I used as the radio op, would not fit so I amputated their feet. You can hardly see them anyway which is a bummer after the care I'd taken painting them and the radio but such is life. The DML Half Track Crew 6193 set is even worse. They're massive compared to the driver that comes with the kit so don't buy them. The radio op in them was my primary reason for picking them up but I probably wouldn't have been able to mate the top of the hull he's that tall when sitting. I'm still wondering what I can use them for instead of halftracks.

Should have it in the diorama as if it was firing. Have the flames pouring out. Get a wire and use Vallejo putty.

Well, the whole diorama will take me some time.
I always focus on making best possible model, and then the base for the diorama.
The flame will be made of course in later time.
By the way, there's so few photos of Flammpanzerwagen's in action so a lot of imagination will be necessary to recreate possible vehicle.

The best results I've seen for flamethrowers in action were done using cotton wool and I think pipe cleaners. I have a feeling that somewhere on here there's a tutorial of how to do a jet of flame. I've got a Crodile in my stash which when it eventually gets built I intend to have a go at it seting fire to a pillbox.

Hello,
My little son went to sleep earlier, so I had time to make some interior work. The driver is sitting, let's say in acceptable manner. I've added the poster on the side wall as well.

The stripes for MP40 was added so they are not flying.

Slowly but stright to the next stages.

Good Day
Although an Ausf D Chassis there is a film clip of a Flammpanzerwagen 251 in action. Lehrfilm 480 at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQT0HbJt2mUstarts about 1 min 28 sec in.
Actually the whole film is interesting. A 251 with the 2cm and
early Jagdpanzer IV etc
Hope this is of some help.

Hello,
I tried to paint the model with a quite complicated pattern, and as far as I'm not familiar with such a narrow lines made with airbrush it is not impressive...
Although Im well... lets say pleased with the final look.

Any thoughts?
