Hi everyone,
I thought that this campaign would not have many willing, but I see here many great models. Keep it up. Will anyone need the time extension.
I finished my build, below is result.












Building a civilian vehicle is not the same as military. It's always a new experience, but I prefer military paint, shining bodyshells are not for me. ;-)

I'll take another crack at it later. There is a fix, I , just need to think on it a bit

Pawel, you have done very well on this one. I especially liked the tonal variations you did on the body, also it is not too shiny which I find more realistic. Congratulations on your finish! I must apologize that I had to back-out of the campaign as I've never even got to start on my build. Cheers, Tat

Ok, my puppy is done, a 1917 Model-T Ford Ambulance. The ICM kit was a good build, save for a few vague instructions and attachment points, but overall a nice kit...

This is the M1008 CUCV as of this morning. Base color is on and I'll be building it until the last minute deadline.

No extension needed. I'll finish at the very last minute of July 31st (UTC-10), from a boat a couple hundred miles off the west coast of Hawaii

Well, all I can say is I am so sorry for not getting back to you in a timely manner and just now as you are finishing the campaign. I've been out of state for some time looking after my father in Florida and had to bow out of my own campaign - Poland 39 and announce my departure, catching your question only now!

...with another quick veteran M1008 story I can tell you that the spare was stored below the bed in standard civilian truck fashion - secured in place, stubbornly, with rust and corrosion and a thick layer of road dust!

My partner, SGT Boling and I had been traveling along a busy interstate highway during rush hour when our right-rear tire had suddenly blown. Having pulled off the highway, we crossed our fingers and then scrambled around for tools. We found the original civilian jack and tire tools under the seat secured to the floor in a thick layer of crud and proceeded to jack the rear of the truck and remove the tire. We then shifted our attention to the removal of the spare under the bed, which had no intention of budging for us...at least it was fully inflated. Well, while the two of us were muscling the spare - we noticed the truck slowly rolling forward to our horror! Without any time to react the jack sprung away from the vehicle and the rear dropped on the two of us, minus one wheel, with a loud crash! We just laid there on our backs, staring at each other in shock and amazement that we were unscathed by a matter of just inches around the two of us. The rear bumper lay just an inch or so above our legs and the rear differential contacted the ground just between our heads!
It was a miracle moment...we crawled forward to get out from under the truck, laughed it off and then walked out into the woods and dragged back logs and rocks to chock the front wheels and started the process all over again, rolling out a couple hours later and behind schedule.

Just another fond service memory of the M1008.

One thing still bothers me today...that all those vehicles passing by at the moment the vehicle fell on us - not a one pulled over to see if we were Okay!

Nice ambulance Clayton, beautiful piece of work Pawel, I especially like the canvas top.

From this I learned that a clear acrylic coat is only somewhat clear and not as smooth as I would hope (also somewhat thick and clogging of fine details ). Note to self - paint trim after clear gloss coat; I will know better next time.
