That is a cool looking piece of gear! Thanks for adding that shot, Omar. I need to thin the stash a bit, but once I do, I'm thinking anither Tiger will be on my short list.

The tiger is coming along great. It looks like a nice kit for the price point. Great work on the interior.

Dear
Some may guide me with the color of the interior of the gates, the hull and turret are color tank while the exhaust was the color of the interior, is that correct?

I don't know what you mean by "gates".

The exhaust mufflers were probably not painted. The sheet-metal exhaust shields were painted like the outside of the tank. But, they became so hot that the paint would change colour and come off. The area enclosed by the exhaust shields would become black from soot.

Maybe this is a good moment to ask a question regarding Academy kit, as i have the same one. In the middle pages of the instruction, as like in Playboy (not that i read it!), there is across section of Tiger with explanation of the parts and "what is what". They seem to position MG34 in the turret floor in some bracket, naming it IIRC AAMG. Now, i know that Mid and Late Tigers had AAMGs on turret, but early one didn't? Any comments?

The Tiger carried a spare MG34 barrel internally, but it was not specifically for AA use.
The Early Tigers didn't have an AA mount, as you said.

In the inicial Tiger, does not have the MG34 into the turret. In the late versions of Tigers. They had the MG 34 in the turret.
Thanks by all the comments.
In conclusion the escape hatch had the same colours of the interior of the turret, and the rest of the hatches the same colours of the exterior. Some pictures seems to shows these points.

Hey Omar

Beautiful work, I’m looking forward to the paint job. Your shots brought back fond memories of when I built mine – in the previous millennium. After a couple of years I began to learn of the inaccuracies in the interior so I did some research and fixed the most obvious ones. I’m not saying mine’s great, Mr Byrden would be the first to agree.

It’s so long ago - so long that these three photos are the only ones out of 10 that haven’t become corrupted, from the early days of digital cameras. I don’t remember all the fixes but you can see some of them; the additional ammo storage bins, the drive shafts for the turret motor above the gunner’s seat (which then makes sense of that pile of machinery in front of the commander’s position), and the cover plate forward of the breech.

It looks like you’re enjoying construction as much as I did despite Academy’s imperfections and your PE work is excellent – unlike mine, which is why I usually "damage" it whenever possible.

Cheers, Tim

Oh, I see.
Academy have labelled that an "anti aircraft" MG.
In fact, that position was normally empty. It was for storing the co-axial MG when the Tiger was sealed up for underwater travel.

Hi All
Excelent your Tiger Tim.
Yes the turret interior has some mistakes, but my idea is the turret closed. That was the razon because I did not worked in it, I make it only the box model.
Well the idea of the Tiger tank in his base.

The new steps

Beautiful job Omar, and excellent photography too. For a moment I thought the Kursk 2ndSS division insignia was on the wrong side but plenty did indeed have it on the starboard side at the front, and maybe port side at the rear (?) Great camo painting too, are you going to make it dirty & are the mechanics coming back?

Whoever opened the turret escape hatch will get a talking to by the rest of the crew--it weighed 300 pounds, and was unsprung. Once open, it was a dead weight, and required several men to lift it closed again (which is why you almost never see it open).

There is a set of photos from a training unit in France that show it being used to load ammunition, but photos from the field always show ammo being loaded through the top hatch.

Still, it does provide a nice view of the turret interior!
