Hisham: The green color is Tamiya's Dark Green (XF-61?) and the sand color is a mix of Tamiya Dark Yellow XF-60 and Buff XF-57. Hope this helps
Here's the turret.

Jacob, your doing amazing job in this tank. I have been thinking about this kit since I saw the review. It's a great looking kit, so I'll follow along the rest of your journey and see her in full glory

Question for Jacob or any other experts....do you think it is possible to make "plain" T55 from this kit by discarding era blocks and filling their mountings?
Or there were some other differences preventing this?

Jacob, your -55 looks fantastic thus far. I am building one of these myself and I think it probably ranks as one of the most difficult armor kits I have ever built. The Syrian ones are great subjects for weathering and I love how you have the reactive armor bricks in disarray. Looking forward to more.

Best wishes,

Ian

Thanks guys
Just returned home from vacation, where I've been off-line for a couple of weeks, but now I'm ready to get some more work done on this project.
Domagoj: I really hope some of our real T-55 "nerds" will give you some advice on that question, becauce I'm myself quite a modern Russian tank newb.

Todays update.
Washes have been applaid, which give more depth and blends the colors a bit.

Mud and dust have been added on the lower hull, so it will look more convincing once the Wheels are attached.

Hi,

I have a T-54B from Takom and it has many T-55 parts in the box from the other kits (including boxes, fuel cells, hatches and also an engine deck, etc) so with some extra work it could be a nice T-55 out of the box, depending on the version you are after.

You will need to remove the dome vent, the MG port and rework the welding on the front of the hull. Also a periscope should be added to the turret but as said T-55s were constantly developed/upgraded so many possibilities are available. If you are willing to do some extra work it is much better out of box than Tamiya (in my opinion).

You can check Takom's T-54B here:

Cheers,

Adam: Thanks for your reply, it is very helpfull and kind of you, to share your knowledge.
I've lurked at your T-54 blog from time to time, and it's very inspirational to follow.

Now the tracks has been fitted, painted and weathered. Also my scrach build un-ditching "log" are placed on the rear armor plate and the rubber side skirts with the ERA Blocks are in place.

Jacob,
Excellent painting! Tracks look great and I like the rims where the paint has been rubbed away.

Question: why the chalk X's on the reactive armor parts?

Best Wishes,

Gaz

Gary: The crosses/scribles on the ERA blocks are some kind of camouflage pattern. It's shown on several pictures found on the internet

This is superb.

How many track links per side? The sag looks spot on.

Ian: Sorry my friend, but I have cheated. The tracks are not connected under the skirts, so I don't know the real number of links.
The kit does provide enough links, though.

I'm planning to crew it, but I can't really find any good "arab/Syrian" looking figures.
Can anyone please point me in a direction?

Hi Jacob.
I recently built trumpeter`s BMP-1 in a syrian conflict scheme, and I went and used Verlinden`s Iraqi POW set as they look quite Arabic. Maybe something you like for a simple vinnet.
