Couple questions on the M1114.
First, I know that it was produced from the mid-90's to 2006. Was this variant put out of service and subsequently replaced by the M1151 and later the MRAP-type vehicles? Or is the M1114 still in service and still being used alongside the M1151 and/or the MRAPs?

Second, knowing the times of service, would the 1114 have been equipped solely with the AN/VIC-1/2 intercom system for inter-vehicular communications or would it have also used the LV2 variant of the AN/VIC-3?

I also have questions about figure kits but that will be going in the figures sections.

Michael, I thought Brent would chime in on this one. As far as I know the M1151 replaced the M1114 on duty outside of the wire before it too was phased out in 2009-2010. You can still see some M1114s but they are usually in the hands of the Iraqi Police and Afghani Police. US and coalition troops use MRAPs now.

Regards,

Eric

Thanks. So what timeframe am I looking at where the 1114 was used in force outside the wire?

Most photos show M1114s from late 2003 until sometime in 2006. That's when the M1151 starts to show up. There was significant overlap between the two though. Units deployed with one type whenever possible.

Thanks. So I'd be safe with equipment, gear and figures from '03 to '06. They weren't used past '06 in the field? Also, would a Boomerang sniper defense system be in use on the heavy armor 1114s in '06 or did that system come later?

The Boomerang was tested in 2005 in Iraq :

So I guess it should be OK for 2006...

As stated, the M1151 was a replacement for the M1114. M1114's are still in use by National Guard units and some Tradoc facilities such as Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.

The Army is in the process of purging them from inventory.
