That build is really a beauty! Nice to see such and interesting collection of shapes and materials tied together so well! It seems sort of a shame to paint it - that attitude might reflect more of an appreciation of process than product though, and I guess, scratch built or otherwise the goal is to make a representation of something in its completed/functional state - who knows? Another part of the fun of the hobby - to build it as you want to see it, and, how you choose to build it! All of that aside, it’s a great build -

I plan to finish the weathering of the RRH this weekend, and then will move to Pf.11(Pontonwagen) scratchbuild for the "Once More Unto the Breach!" Campaign, while simultaneously building the Henschel 33D1 truck that hauls it.

While waiting(for more than a month) to get in the mood for weathering some finished models(the RRH, the Pf.11 and the Henschel 33D1 I built for the Once More Unto the Breach! Campaign), I restarted work on the DDA-53 decontamination and shower vehicle.

I was missing some parts in the kit when it arrived- most importantly, the engine hood/bonnet- and although I was promised to receive them by the producer, they never arrived...

So I had to scratchbuild them, and then entered the vicious circle of filling, sanding, priming, sanding again, filling again, priming again e.t.c. My stamina ended with the fifth session...



Added 15 handwheels and painted the vehicle:







Next will be (when I finally feel like...) oil paint weathering.

Great looking truck - and the gear in the back is really nice! The plumbing on the passenger side is particularly eye catching.

Yes - I’m still scratchbuilting too, but I’ve been posting on Automodeler. One truck in particular caused me similar problems to what you just finished on the hood. I know what you mean about it being trying....it seems to take more and more cutting, glueing, putty, priming, sanding, more putty and on and on.

I’ve got three builds there - one called “Chevy off road racers”, another called “old 4x4” both in the truck section - and a car you might like called “GT 40 MKIV a bridge too far” in the car section. You might enjoy seeing them. You’ll know the landscape of each - awkward fits, multiple materials....and lots of head scratching!

I've recently finished the build of the Pionierfahrzeug 11(Pontonwagen) with Halbponton/Brückengerät B for the "Once More Unto the Breach!" Campaign.Apart from the resin tires it is 100% scratchbuild.

2 days ago I found out I built the Transition ramp(8t) wrongly(it is arched, not flat), so I'm in the process of building it again.

The loaded Pf.11 was hauled by either a m.gl.LKW or a halftrack.

Once delivered in the proximity of the deployment, it was uncoupled from the towing vehicle and pushed to the river bank.
There first the front of the halfpontoon was raised,then rested on the two levers at the rear of the frame(they were sviweled upwards and locked in position), then the crew performed what Peter described.

Launching the halfpontoon gave free access to all bridge-building materials, loaded on the trailer.
2 Pf.11 trailers carried all the materials(beams and planks) required for building one 4t.ferry(there were 16 Pf.11's in the Brueckenkolonne B).
