Hi all, working on Dragons old DAK Pz IIIG, essentially built OOB, I decided to try the hairspray chipping method on this one, so I used the Vallejo DAK paint set with the hairspray applied after the grey tones, and when dry followed up with the sand colours and started chipping. I can see how it can be very easy to get carried away with the process. My main goal was to keep the chipping "in scale", I did much up a few areas and had to touch up, hopefully I can blend it in during the weathering phase. Some more detail painting and decals are up next, followed by oil dot filter and blending, washes and dust. Comments/advice welcome!

That's funny, I'm building the "H" as a DAK vehicle right now. I plan on topping it with the Master Box set of Rommel and his minions set.

Weathering looks good but the tank is the wrong color for that period, early 1941 to early 1942.
The tropen colors are 2/3 RAL 8000 with a 1/3 pattern of RAL 7008.
Panzer Regiment 5 deployed with all the motorized equipment painted in RAL 7021 Dunkelgrau. Orders to repaint came down within six weeks but ample supplies of paint were unavailable at first. Locally sourced paint could have been a possibility, but I have never seen confirmation of it.
Tanks from Panzer Regiment 5 were distinguishable as they had random patterns of RAL 8000 over the RAL 7021 to conserve paint while waiting for supplies of RAL 7008.
Panzer Regiment 8 deployed with tanks painted RAL 8000/7008 prior to shipping. Those vehicles weathered completely differently that Pz Reg 5's.

Colin,
The dot filter and straking really add some great depth to your tank. It's very appealing to look at!

Lovely work, even if it may not be supremely accurate. I have a whole case of models overcome by information I received too late to make changes. I still like the models and I still enjoyed building them.
I look forward to seeing the completed project!
Cheers,
Paul H

Finally finished this one off (warts and all) with all the other builds I am doing. Decided to mount it on a simple base made from a photo frame with groundwork using Das modelling clay, painted and added rocks and some pigments. Cheers!

Colin,
I really like it. It definitely says dusty! A great dispay on your shelf!
