Hoping for some help/advice please. I'm modelling a knocked out Renault FT-17 Tank - dispatched by a German Mauser anti tank rifle. my question ... where abouts on a tank is the most likely/obvious place to disable it using an anti tank rifle?

Most areas of the FT-17 would have been vulnerable to an AT Rifle. Injure/kill the driver, penetrate the engine compartment, disable the differential --- all are good candidates

If you can translate it, here's an excerpt from an August 1918 German memo listing the weak points of the FT light tank against the 13mm antitank gun (Tank-abwehr-Gewehr) :

The 2nd column is what to look at.

Front-Penetrating hits anywhere on the armor, especially the turret and driver compartment.

Side- The whole side profile, especially the engine, fan, gas tank and turret.

Rear- The whole side profile, especially the engine, fan, gas tank and turret.


So, it was vulnerable pretty much everywhere. Given the thin armor you wouldn't need a disabling hit, just kill the crew.
