Your tracks look killer!

Well, I like rules. They give a visible boundary of the everyday life. And my Rule #1 is: if you don't have time for modelling then buy something related to modelling (and to be honest it helps to speed up GDP growth in our stagnating economy). So I bought some ammo for the Jagdpanzer, though not sure which of them will be used... Anyway some small progress on the roof was made but not really visible.

Small steps taken due to lack of time for modelling - to be honest I'm a bit afraid of the finish time of the Tank Hunters campaign... Some PE to be done and then the paint can come.

It seems that all the shiny PE parts are done and the tools are on the engine deck. Now twentysomething tiny loops remained to be glued for the canvas around the superstructure and I can say that the building phase is finished. Slow build, indeed.

The PE was a mixed selection. The Eduard is not 100% so I used Griffon tool clamps and Aber parts (the jack holder).

Already posted in the Tank Hunters Campaign thread but I repeat myself here: first camo color is on, brown to follow and then weathering... I am still concerned about the brown as I don't really like the Rotbraun provided in the Ammo MIG set. Maybe historically correct but simply to "Rot" for me. I am thinking about Gunze Chocolate brown in a lightened version.

Good job on the tie down loops. They're a real pain to do, but they add a lot to the look.

I don't know if I'd worry about the "rotbraun" being too "rot", it'll change once the weathering is started.

Hi, in regards to the green camo you applied, may I ask how you did this? Did you use putty to define edges before using the airbrush?

The tie-down loops were a little nerve-consuming to do but the biggest problem was that Eduard created them asymmetric. One leg was shorter than other - which is a big problem if the "correct" leg is shorter than 1mm. But finally I managed them and the problem is only visible from close distance only (plus with macro lense on the camera )
The Rotbraun-problem seems to be solved - I found a Rotbraun Base color from AmmoMIG on the paint stand and this satisfies my taste perfectly. Though no time for the painting itself last weekend I played with my kids's Drawing Box app on the iPad. Just to experiment how to complete the camo...


I had not decided yet which to choose. What do YOU guys think?

I was thinking about to mask the pattern with Blutac but then I found I had very tiny Blutac in stock. So took a big breath and painted free-hand. Some light green overspray happened on the DG but not worrying on that - brown and weathering will solve all these problems.

"Nerve consuming", yeah, that would be one way to put it.

Of the two proposed patterns, I think I'm partial to the first one.

After a short pause (some renovation of the modelling/hobby room in the house) I continued with the weathering. No clear plan to follow. I apply different products and then check the result and apply some other products to reach some variation. Up until now I faded the colors with oils and used AK Interactive's light dust deposit (cool stuff, really), washed the vehicle with AmmoMIG brown wash and weathered the lower hull with ProModeller wash plus some oils. And of course the old classic: MIG Productions pigments - these will be used instead of the general pre-dusting with airbrush and I'll dirt the tracks with them, too, to achieve somewhat consistent look at the end. I still have some chance to finish until 30th April (and get the Campaign Ribbon) so my motivation increases day by day. What I have to do to finish:
- painting the tools on the rear deck
- painting the visors and periscope
- paint/weather the exhaust and the jack-block
- weather the skirts (and decide: to use nor not to use all of them as they hide the tracks - and if the hide than it proves to be an unnecessary effort to have them from Friuls)
That seems to be possible in almost three weeks.

The vehicle itself is finished (and my first campaign succesfully completed, yeah). Weathering is intentionally soft as the dioramic setting is yet to be decided and I don't want to ruin things with lots of mud in case the dio turns out to be in an urban setting. Nothing has be decided so far. I have some crew figures loading ammo and I have the ammo itself. The rest is waiting for some inspiration (digging through my pile of pictures from the misterious corners of the web). Some pics:
