I'm pretty sure the idea of an 128mm Jagdpanther isn't fictional, but it was supposed to be on the chassis on the standard Panther I.

There are concept drawings of this vehicle reprinted in the Jentz book. So not totally fictitious!

Now who wouldn't enjoy a what-if based on a Panther II . . . so many possibilities.

It is not a JagdPanther II. AH has based the kit on a WOT render and continued the incorrect name. It is in fact a Zerosterer which was planned to use the standard Panther chassis not a Panther II chassis. FCM produce one in resin many years ago. Having said that I have one on pre-order from Modellbau Koenig who expect it mid to late December.

From the size of the casemate I'd say it had only 10 rounds maximum.

As Mr. Ackermans has pointed out, this kit is truly amusing. Look at it. How do you access the engine for minor maintenance?
1. Unlock the engine hatch.
2. Get a 20 ton crane, unbolt the entire gun assembly from the hull, lift it out with the crane.
3. Open the hatch.

Not accurate or practical, but I like how their kits go together, and I thought the instructions were good. I wish they would do some of the real subjects that have been overlooked, or are in need of an upgrade.

Can't be any worse than the FCM Patherzertorer conversion for the Tamiya Panther G.

Anyone have any idea what the FCM kit is going for these days if one were even available?
It doesn't even show up on ebay as a sold item..

This configuration would work better for self propelled artillery than a tank hunter. With a howitzer it'd be typical to elevate the gun out of the way of the engine hatch. The exhausts would run along the top of the track run so would be hidden as on a Hummel or Wepse? Also the back clamshell doors would be perfect for servicing an artillery piece.

EXACTLY. A pretty good read at the beginning of PANZER TRACTS No.9-3 "Jagdpanther" and how the original name was to be the Sturmgeschuetz auf Panther, many conceptual drawings were submitted and this was a proposed design.
Pretty cool kit I think!

I would not urge you to take a kit more seriously than you want to. Please don't expect me to take it less seriously than I want to.

Never thought too much about maintenance but I bet the Elefant wouldn't have been much better either.

MLD For some reason Resins and vac forms were very popular in continental Europe. Many long OOP models find their way onto Ebay.de. Always worth a look especially for rarer items.

I think the point Byeol is making is that this isn't a serious kit, it's loosely based on some impractical design brief never even getting to wooden mock up stage. This is a whif and nothing more.
There are plenty of kits of actual vehicles and produced prototypes far more deserving of the time spent in accuracy and practicality discussion.
While I personally don't like the design premise either Amusing Hobby are a company who very obviously like the WOT style paper panzers and more power to them. Now if they produced a Tiger, Panther or Sherman and it was rubbish then game on .....
cheers
Brent
