The quality control of Azimut is not the best. I have built a couple of Azimut kits in the past and they haven´t been simple to say the least. So be prepared to do some scratch building. Having said that, let's get started.

Marcos, this build is right up my alley! Any such modern vehicle interests me. I like what you've done so far. Following with interest.

I will follow this.

I had zero interest in this vehicle until I saw Brett Green's build on Missing Lynx, after that I knew I had to buy one, conversion is waiting in the stash.

I am going to have to get the digital version of that issue of MMI soon to see Brett's build. The photos on ML look great. Marcos, like I said I am watching this build closely.

Very interesting conversion.
It seems several people purchased the kit and it raises the following question: in light of previous threads on the Azimut online shop, is it safe to try and order this particular kit through them?

Hi Andrew, I ordered mine a couple of months ago from the Azimut online shop and had no problem getting it to Mexico. So if it gets to Mexico it can get anywhere in the world. Only problem with Azimut, as I mentioned at the beginning of this thread, is that they don’t have the best quality control. Be prepared to have some parts missing that you will have to scratch build. Warping of their resin parts is very common, but that you can fix with boiling water. And instructions are not that clear, but with good reference pics you can get away with it. Probably the best reference is Prime portal: http://www.primeportal.net/trucks/jean_thomas_rembert/panhard_4x4_vps/
All in all this kit is a challenge, but it is fun. Wouldn’t recommend it to beginners though.

Now I have to decide on the color scheme. Two tone cammo or the solid sand color. Now I have a question for the experts, which of the two is more widely used. And is the prime portal tone of sand accurate, or is it the softer sand you see in other pictures:

And I can't figure out what these two tiny parts are:

Could they be the petrol cans caps?:

Some of my missing parts;
Antenna mounts

Mirrors

The mirrors should be no problem, I will just use and fix the ones from the Revell kit.

And parts I got double:

50 cal

MG mount

From what i knows, no VPS in Afghanistan but in Mali several units used some.

If you Google "VPS Mali" you'll find some nice pics.

Both camo was (is) deployed, so you could choose plain sand or sand+chocolate Brown version.

Personnaly i prefers sand+brown version for an in action VPS!

Lighting is very poor, so colors look a bit different in real life.

Hello
On my screen your sand colour looks too "white", the french sand is a warm one.

I think it is a lighting problem. Look at the difference in color of the two last pictures I posted. I will try to take a couple of pictures with natural sun light and you will see the difference. Thank you for following!
