You all are welcome. After building the Cyber Hobby V-2 I bought the resin Meilerwagen from Wespe and preordered the Hanomag a while back in order to spur them into releasing this.

According to Scalemates, this is a 2016 issue-- anyone got any information as to the release date? I was going to buy the SS100 to go with my scratchbuilt VidalWagen and Dragon V2-- now maybe I'll wait until this one is out. I've been waiting a long, long time for a Meillerwagen in 35th scale, as I'm sure many others have.

According to their FB page, they first announced the G6 Rhino on July 21st.. and it just became available in HK a couple of weeks ago.. So, somewhere around 2 1/2 months as a rough estimate.. Keep checking Luckymodel, they're always the first to put them up for pre-order in HK., I believe they're their distributors.

Hisham,
Thanks-- my local hobby shop just got in the SS100s, and they were announced last July, I was hoping this might be one of those "out sooner" kits since the SS100 is out now. I expect this kit will retail for about $100 USD, given the three kit components and the price on the SS100 alone is $44 USD. In my experience there will likely be a run on this kit, which will make it hard to find after the initial release-- I hope Takom is prepared for this one.

That could very well be the case.. it's not like the whole thing is new.

Oops !!

This is what we are waiting for so many years.
I hope that they did a good study on the details of the Meiller and V-2 rocket.
Work that Dragon forgot to do.
They may send me a set to give my responce on it

Greetings

Bert

Hi, ALL!

Shell, Robin, and Jonathan, you are all SOOOOO RIGHT! I wish I had a dollar for every conversion, kit-bash, and/or scratch-built model that some manufacturer decided to come out with, just as I was placing MY model into one of my display cases! Gino Q and Mike165thspc CERTAINLY know what I'm talking about!!!

This new "combo"-kit opens up a lot of possibilities! How about a "forced-perspective"-type of dio, with a pair of 1/72 or 1/144 P-47s, Typhoons, or Mosquitoes "lining up their 'Sights" for a "JABO-attack" on the V-2/Hanomag "set-up"..? This kind of thing would be right up Steve Zaloga's alley!!!

OK...i will look at a different perspective. I have seen a box art of just the V-2, which I presume will be a kit on its own. A V-2 done in captured US markings, possibly a conversion to the Bumper WAC version.

Just a thought...

Rounds Complete!!

You would always have the option of painting it black and white and making a US post war test vehicle out of it!

That tractor has a fair resemblance to some heavy American trucks of the mid-late 1930s. The chassis would need to be stretched out and the cab modified, but I think that I could do it. But I'll bet this will be a pricey kit!

Well, I pre-ordered the SS100 a couple of months ago at LuckyModel, and only paid $30 for it, so guesstimate the set cost from that.

That is going to be tempting. I wonder if Takom (or others) will do any of the other support vehicles, radar or fueling trucks? Would make a very impressive launch site.

I agree a post war version would be mighty cool too. As you know, this technology was the basis that led to the moon.

Italeri makes a refueling truck which could be adapted, most of the half-track and wheeled types are readily available too, albeit some with resin add-on shelters. Really the only four items missing that can't be readily procured in plastic are the armored control vehicle, the LOX tank trailer, the towed fuel trailer and the Vidalwagen-- but I hope they will be along shortly from this manufacturer. Alas, as others have said above, I built the Dragon V2 and a scratchbuilt Vidalwagen two years ago, so I suppose that will be the next release. I do hope Takom has gotten the rocket right though as the Dragon one has some shape and detail issues. There were no radars used in the V2 guidance system, its guidance and arming system were provided by on-board gyroscope and ground radio. The later use of the rocket is in fact the basis of the early rocket research at White Sands and in the USSR, and the first ever photo of the curvature of the earth was taken from a modified V2, and the basic motor design was used in the Redstone rocket that put Alan Shepard, the first US Astronaut in space.

I guess you saying that the dish included in the old 1/76 Eidai V-2 Missile set was pure fiction then!

No, not pure fiction, but not used for an operational firing battery. It's possible Eidai got their idea from the A4 Peenemunde testing and later US post war testing period that used radar tracking for launch reasearch. During the war, Radar was ancillary to the operational firing battery, and not part of the required launch equipment. There were two radars used, I don't know which radar was included in the kit. The larger Wurzburg radar was used in testing and regional command and control when available. Guidance and "control" was done automatically by radio signal in the primary launch phase, and by the gyroscope guidance system onboard. The Germans used radars operationally for tracking, but again, they were not assigned to the battery as a piece of launch equipment and unnecessary for control or targeting. As I've said in several posts, V2Rocket.Com is the best reference for the battery vehicles. I'm not an expert, but I've done several years of research on the V2/A4 missile, and read everything I can get my hands on regarding the rocket batteries and testing. This past year I've started doing research on the post war US testing program because I'm interested in the impact of this technology on the early space program. I'm very glad someone has finally released a mainstream kit in 1/35, although I just finished buying up all the 1/72 CMK 1/72 rockets, battery trailers, the SS100 and a bunch of Hasegawa and Academy rolling stock for conversion--I'll still build em' but they are tiny! Glad we now have a 1/35 alternative.
