My next project is placed in a Warehouse district in the city of Seelow. The Red army has over come the Seelow Heights and is working it's way through the city of Seelow. I will be using the Type 82E from Revell and the new Tamiya SU-76 along with various Resin figures I have picked up at shows.

The Revell kit, simple but not bad at all. The only down side is all the doors and hatches are molded shut.

The Bettle complete and ready for paint. The kit comes with two sets of wheels. One with the hubcaps on and one without.

The figures I plan on using, some of the boxes are half empty denoted by the black marker and just the Warriors dead German.

Some of the figures assembled. That Verlinden one is sidelined right now as his arms don't line up with his body....ugh. The Tank figure throwing the grenade was missing his helment, top of his combat shovel and left hand. Replacement parts came from the spares box, thus the different colors.

The Tamiya SU-76. I built the older Mini-art one a few years ago, it was a nice kit, but fought me all the way. Looking forward to a Tamiya type build.

Nice idea. You may try putting the vilinden fig in hot water until it's bendable and then carefully position the arms, etc.

Jerry, nice idea, but the geometry is just way off. I had to do some re-scrupting. Once he's presentable, I'll get a pic of him up.

All the resin figures assembled and in primer in front of the warehouse facade.

The SU-76 coming along nicely. Typical Tamiya construction, just a walk in the park.

How big is that Verlinden figure? He kinda looks like he may be a Golith fighting a buncha Davids and losing.

Verlinden figures have a rep for being a tad on the larger side, including heft. He's slightly taller then the other figs, excluding the Warriors dead trooper.

I had the same trouble with many of my Verlinden figures as well. Too bad, as they have some amazing detail to them!
This looks great so far!

Had some time over the holiday to make some progress. The Bettle is complete. Windows shots up and I still need to add some bullet holes in the doors.

I also painted up these items that will be scattered near the beetle. The drum and Jerry cans are resin items.

The SU-76m is also making a little progress. I had to stop assembly and paint the fighting compartment and the chassis.
The fighting area is chipped and weathered. If you noticed, the full combat load of 76mm rounds is not present as it is in "action". There will be a suitable pile of empties behind it once it's placed in the diorama.

Further along with the SU-76m. The gun is next, the rest is complete sans the tools. If you notice the white tape on the exhaust pipes, it represents asbestos tape. In most photos the tape looks a little rough and textured so I added a little putty to provide the texture.

Nice progress. I like the panzerfausts and the rusty bits.

Now that the SU-76m is getting close to final paint and weathering, I went a head and started on the crew supplied by Tamiya. I had heard rumors that the crew was good. I can say that these are the best Tamiya figures I have ever seen. Really nice. The way they are molded you can't mis-align any of the body parts. I had thought about replacing the heads with Resin aftermarket replacements, but decided against that as they are pretty good. Here's the loading figure.

The rest of the SU gun crew.
For a plastic figure set, these are really good. They even went together like a typical Tamiya kit...quick and no complains.

Recognize anybody???

Note, he does look like Putin....lol

Nice job and interesting topic.

HOwever, if I were you,I would replace the car's windows with some thin sheet plastic. You could use the original pieces as a template for a realistic version in e.g. 0,3 mm transparent styrene. Right now it's like the windows are shouting "OUT OF SCALE" at you, which would be a pity considering the nice work you did with the paint jobs and general setting...
Cheers!

Nicolas, I hear you on the windows and you are correct. Been looking for something in scale. Once I find something, I'll replace what's present. In the meantime, I need to paint Putin.

Greg,
I like this a lot, really nice job so far. The camo on the car came out perfect, IMHO. Is the warehouse wall something you threw together? Looks good too.

Cheers

Dave, the warehouse wall is some old plaster casting from I think maybe Dioramics....they have been sitting around in my stash for a good ten years. It's two parts glued together. Top part is still in plaster the bottom part has some black primer on it. It should be a good back drop to the street scene.

My 2 Rubles: I generally use plastic packaging — the thin kind that covers product cards for easy viewing, which is nearly impossible to open, but will cut you in a heartbeat if you get too frustrated! 😖

Looking good so far!

You could just go with evergreen (or other brands):

It's so thin cutting is a breeze and you will have replaced the original items in no time!

Ok, I've replaced the glass material in the Type 82e with much thinner material. Also I've finished up the SU-76m.

Greg

I really like the subtle painting. Very realistic with minimal weathering etc.

So far, so good I agree about the window comments but that may be possible to solve/disguise with careful weathering. Very nice paint job on the SU76.
