Quoted TextDo you guys REEEEALLY think that any of these "wish-things" will ever come to fruition..? Seriously..?
The only real things that you can count on is more 1/35 re-boxed Tiger Is from DRAGON, and old re-boxed ITALERI kits from TAMIYA...
As a matter of fact I think the answer is yes! I mean really Dennis, did you ever think we would see the Object 279 in plastic? or the Conqueror, t-24, T-18, a new tool T-35/T-28. How about the T29 series, or the US T54, or how about the Hobbyboss Vickers series? I could go on and on about kits I never thought we would see in plastic, what a wonderful time to be an armor modeler!
Hi, John!
You're right, in certain respects!
However, you've got to admit that A LOT of the subject matter that's been listed, ESPECIALLY US WWII and US Modern Equipment will NEVER see the light of day!!! The chances of seeing a REEEEALLY OBSCURE version or single vehicle of some German WWII test-vehicle or "Paper-Panzer" is far more likely.
I said earlier in this thread that I wasn't going to open my mouth, BUT SEVERAL OF YOU GUYS ARE NOW FORCING ME TO!
FORGET ALL ABOUT an entirely new M8 HMC, a new M3/M3A1 Stuart, M18 TDs or an M3 Lee/Grant, or for that matter, for AFV CLUB to take just one step further and come out with a new WWII US Dodge WC54 Ambulance, based on their earlier Dodge WC-series vehicles.
I could name, AT THE VERY LEAST, 2-DOZEN other US WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Modern AFVs and Soft-skinned vehicles, not counting other Nations' vehicles from ALL eras that I would like to see come into the market, but THAT would be pointless, and a waste of time on my part.
Personally, I COULD CARE LESS about a Soviet Objekt 279 or a post WWI Soviet T-18, ESPECIALLY an Artillery version of same, but that's just my own opinion.
I DO NOT reject anyone's wishes for the literally HUNDREDS of AFVs and Soft-skins that are being mentioned in this thread. But!!! HOPING and/or EXPECTING the model manufacturers to actually release MOST of these candidates in plastic, is just unrealistic. And THAT is why I said that you guys have "high hopes and expectations". The various AFVs and Soft-skins that were mentioned are INDEED, VERY DIVERSE AND INTERESTING subject matter!
Many of you need to realize that the model manufacturers are driven by a desire to take our money. They produce what they perceive to be "popular" subject matter- Thus, the endless "bread-and-butter" and SINGULAR versions of Tiger Is, belonging to ONE "Tank Ace" or another, i.e, Wittmann & Carius, et al.
Re: The Objekt 279- The kits released by several different manufacturers of this rather peculiar and singular oddity is only popular within a niche WITHIN a niche of the broad range of plastic modelling. Will HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of 1/35 Objekt 279s actually be bought by the average modeller?
I'm betting NO...
Tiger Is, (ad nauseam), on the other hand, will make money hand over fist! All the manufacturers need to do is add a different decal sheet, and POSSIBLY, a few "new" parts that they've pirated from their other, earlier Tiger kits.
And, PRESTO!!! AN ALL-NEW TIGER I KIT!!!
IMO, it's DISGUSTING...
Conversely, would we EVER see a kit from ANY model manufacturer of US WWII Tank Ace Lafayette Poole's M4A1 VVSS 76mm (Wet) "In The Mood"..? I'm betting a RESOUNDING NO!!!
So. NOW, I've vented my spleen- REMEMBER, several of you guys have PROVOKED ME into a rebuttal of your "challenging" posts. I HAD NO INTENTION of ONCE AGAIN, mentioning 1/35 Tiger Is versus M8 HMCs, M18s, etc. I consider myself, "NOT GUILTY"!!! YOU guys opened this can of worms, not me!!!

Hey all,
My short list....
All WWII, plastic, and 1/35 scale… (some may have been mentioned before, so adding reinforcement to those…)
American:
Crews for landing craft and PT boats, (maybe Dragon could do several smaller kits, and then one could buy what one would like, give some competition to Italeri…).
US Naval Beach Battalion types in various kits. (ETO, MTO, & Pacific),
(in general, US naval men in all ranks, and MOS).
75 & 90 & 120 mm A/A guns to go behind the M4 HST
M31 ARV, Academy
M30 Ammo carrier to go w/ the M12, Academy again.
M3 105 mm howitzer
Trucks, all the ones not done to date, (especially the US Chevy 1½ ton, & IHC trucks).
M2 Truck-mounted Crane, or tracked chassis, as well as other construction equipment, (rollers, graders, and other earth movers), (Bronco has the 6-ton already, so adding a crane to it would get move use out of some molds).
M15/M15A1 in the half-track series, (come on Dragon!).
T30 75mm Howitzer Motor Carriage (on half-track, come on Dragon again!).
Ford Staff Cars (Tamiya has a 1/48th one, so up-scale it already!).
M5 high speed tractor, (to pull the Bronco M1 155mm howitzer).
US Railroad switcher locomotives, steam & diesels, used on the continent after the
D-Day invasion along w/ rolling stock.
US Navy LCP & LCV landing craft, precursors of the LCVP… (Italeri on this one?)
USN WWII Sub-chaser, (wood hull), along w/ the Higgin’s MTB, (right up Italeri’s alley!).
German:
Coastal artillery KM personnel, (something different other than the constant stream of SS figures!(I know, they sell…)). Dragon?
Naval crewmen of the Kriegsmarine, (to compete w/ the Italeri offering). Dragon too?
Trailers in general, like compressors, generators, cargo carriers, and the like, there is a bunch on the market, but w/ Germans, there is always more.
German railway box car types, (to go with all the other nice equipment on the market, (one is coming out by a new company, but there are many more types)).
Thanks for looking…

Very good news. I didn't buy the 1/35 resin kit from W-Models, it went out of stock the day before I decided to spend that much money and now it looks as if Trumpeter comes to my rescue

Unfortunately I believe Denis to be quite correct. If there ever happened to be an eccentric billionaire or somebody similar who started a model company that produced only what modellers wanted, it's my betting that one of two things would happen:
1. They would go out of business because modellers spat the dummy when their favourite vehicle wasn't the first one released or
2. They would go quietly mad because of the "boo birds" criticising every rivet despite the manufacturer's best efforts!
Of course, there may be a military security reason for the absence of some kits as well. I well recall I think it was Renwal who produced a very good model of a US nuclear missile submarine with full cutaway interior back in the 60s. When the US authorities found that the majority of purchases ended up in the Russian embassy, the kit was withdrawn from sale in very short order!
Having said all that, I'd STILL like a decent Bergepanther!

Given what we have seen since 2008 that was on "wishlists" like these and what we are currently seeing - these lists actually come (partially) true.
If someone had told me in 2007 we would see "Cold war exotics" like the KaJaPa, Jaguar or M48A2GA2 in 1:35 "plastic" I would have told him "in your dreams". Yet we have them. They may not be the "perfect" kits some hope but they are quite decend and equally important they are affordable! Same for a lot of other stuff (say a new tool M42, Gepard, Centurion, M60/A1/A2/A3....) that was rules as "will not happen" - well there they are, all available within 7 days from Modellbau König and each in a two digit price range.
And the next batch is coming in (T-29/30/34 etc) so yes, there are good indications that at least for a "cold warrior" like me those lists DO come true.
Granted, maybe no new Allies&Nazis or Amis&Arabs stuff but THAT I can actually live with as long as I get my Cowboys&Cossaks

Hi, John!!! And Hello to Everyone else!!!
John- I opened my last post by addressing you because I specifically wanted to reply to you first, which is why I also AGREED with you to a certain extent, so NO apologies are needed from you! I'm GOOD with what you said.
Everyone else- I've DELIBERATELY AVOIDED listing any of my personal wants and hopes because I didn't want to have to read the same old derogatory and disparaging commentary that I get when I post my personal wants and hopes. This negative commentary usually runs the gamut from:
"There goes Dennis AGAIN with his M8 HMCs, M18s, etc, etc!!!"
TO:
"OH DENNIS, SHUT UP ALREADY!!!"
How would you guys feel if I answered any of YOU in this fashion..? There have been times where I seriously considered NEVER posting on ARMORAMA ever again, because CERTAIN PEOPLE, whom I WILL NOT NAME, have NO SOCIAL SKILLS...
I don't want to present myself as being an immature, thin-skinned cry-baby, so I'll desist from making any more thoughts of mine on this subject, public domain...
On to bigger and better things!
Now I have to ask: Do you guys REEEALLY want to hear/read my same old repetitive wants and hopes for PLASTIC kits in 1/35 scale..? I say PLASTIC, because many modellers prefer this medium over resin or multi-media model kits- I PERSONALLY like resin and multi-media kits, and I have no problems with assembling them...
The models that I will list below are kits that I would like to see produced with entirely NEW slide-mold technology, new tooling and the latest engineering methods. I MUST STRESS that I FULLY EXPECT that NONE of these will ever see the light of day... NO RE-BOXES, PLEASE!!!
OK, here goes nothing:
M3/M3A1 Stuart/Honey (US and British versions)
M3 Lee/Grant (US and British versions)
Ford 3-ton Tank
T1 Christie Tank
T1 thru M2 Combat Cars (there are literally SEVENTEEN different versions of these Combat Cars

Marmmon-Herrington CTL-series Light Tanks
M7 Light/Medium Tank
BOTH types of the M29 Weasel- with and without the "Boat Hull"

M8 HMC 75mm Howitzer Motor Carriage, (DITTO)
Early and Late M10 TDs- TAMIYA's is a "Mid-Production" model

M1E1 Abrams, (DITTO)
M1A1
M1A1 HA
M1A1 Heavy Common
M1 ARV
USMC M1 ABV, IN AN ALL PLASTIC KIT
A PROPER US MBT70, the BLACK PLAGUE kit doesn't count, because it is a German version
US M1 240mm Towed Howitzer, (choice of "deployed mode", or broken down in TWO sections for "travel mode"
M5 High Speed Artillery Tractor
M8 Artillery Tractor
M6 TD (37mm AT Gun mounted on the Dodge WC51-series 3/4-ton Truck- JEEZ! C'mon already, AFV CLUB!!!)
PROPER, accurately proportioned and technically correct US CCKW352 & CCKW353 6x6 2.5-ton Trucks, in both "Soft" & "Hard" Cab versions, in a MULTITUDE of different applications
Chevrolet 1.5-ton 4x4 Truck (YP-G-4112)
Mack No 7-ton 6x6 Prime Mover
Ward-La France 6-ton 6x6 Prime Movers and other types, such as Wreckers, etc
International Harvester M5/M6 2.5-ton 6x6 Trucks
M52 and M53 SP Guns
M107 and M110 SP Guns
A WHOLE BOATLOAD of Dodge WC-series-based 3/4-ton Trucks of different types- there were ONLY 38 different configurations of them!!! (And no, I don't want all 38 of them, just some of the major types. See below)
M6 TD w/37mm AT Gun, mentioned earlier
WC53 Carryall (Suburban-type Body)
WC54 Ambulance
WC59 Telephone Maintenance Truck
WC60 Emergency Repair Chassis
WC61 Light Maintenance Truck- ALL of these can be created from A LOT of EXISTING PARTS that AFV CLUB already makes for their other Dodges, and they only need to design and mold certain other parts in order to produce the above-mentioned models...
M35 6x6 Prime Movers and their derivatives
T69 Multiple Gun Carriage (M8 Armored Car with a Quad .50 AA Mount, a la the M16 Half-Track)
INNUMERABLE WWII, Post-war and Modern Trailers- HELP, Gino and Mike 165thpsc!!!
US WWII Staff Cars (For Field-Grade Officers- Fords, Chevrolets, Plymouths and Dodges. For General Officers- Oldsmobiles, Buicks and Chryslers. For FAMOUS General Officers- Patton's 1939 Cadillac Limo, Eisenhower's 1941/'42 Packard)
There are so many MORE US-types that I'd LOVE to see, but I can't remember them at the moment... Very likely, we'll NEVER see any of the models that I mentioned above...
British:
Covenanter-series Cruiser Tanks
Crusader I Mk.VI Cruiser Tank, with the early Turret, 2pdr Main Gun and MG Turret
Crusader IICS, 3-inch Howitzer
Centurion I (A41)
Matilda Mk.I (A11)
Various Sherman "Funnies"
Scammel Prime Mover
Scammel Pioneer
Morris Commercial CS8 15-cwt, 4x2 (in various configurations)
Morris Commercial CD/SW 6x4 (DITTO)
Canadian;
CDL Grant
"RAM"s, various versions
Australian:
Sentinel ACI, ACIII, and ACIV- Never used in combat, but they were very useful as Training Machines
Russo-Soviet:
IMO, these are already pretty much covered. Perhaps some Auxiliary Types, such as Engineer and Recovery Vehicles would be in order. i understand that several manufacturers already have T-72Bs of various types coming out soon...
Ukrainian:
T-84 "OPLOT"
WWII German:
What can I say? Anything that I could add would probably be insignificant compared to what's already available. Perhaps an all new Krupp Protze, a Horch Typ 1 version of of TAMIYA's Steyr Kommandeurwagen, and a Horch Typ 1 Ambulance. Maybe a Tatra 6x6 Stabs/Kommandeurwagen, or a BMW 328 Staff Car? Here's something different- The experimental Pz.Kpfw.III with the FAMO Interleaved Suspension..? An all-new Pz.III Ausf.? with the "Dummy" Wooden Gun would probably be nice, as well. I'm patiently awaiting BOTH of the upcoming HOBBYBOSS M35 12-wheeled Heavy Armored Cars...
PLEASE, Model Manufacturers!!! Give the Tiger Is A REST, ALREADY!!! More early StuG.IIIs would be fine with me. Some new Sd.Kfz.251-types WITH NO FIT PROBLEMS might be nice for the WII German fans, too!!! The Bergepanthger will probably NEVER HAPPEN, as much as I and many others would like to see it... I WISH that DRAGON would get off the pot and produce an ALL-NEW Hetzer and Bergepanzer 38(t)! They are all-proud of themselves for producing their new "Bergepanzer 38(t)-based vehicles, but where are the actual ALL-NEW Hetzers, i.e. the Early, Mid, Late, Command, and Flammpanzer, AND Bergepanzer 38(t) kits?!?!? DRAGON always seems to do things backasswards! AND PLEASE, DRAGON- GET RID OF ALL THOSE "DS" TRACKS!!! If they want to cut corners, then they should REPLACE those damnable "DS" Tracks with their "link-and-length" "NEO-TRACKS"!!!
I'm sure that there's more kits that I'd like to see, but I just can't remember them all...
DON'T get me started on 1/48 Aircraft- I could name DOZENS of Aircraft that I'd love to see, as well!!!

They produce what they perceive to be "popular" subject matter..." well if you want to change what they consider "popular" than we have to speak up! So since we opened the can of worms already so hop on board have some fun and give us your list too!
I'd also like to add the Ram MK 1 to my list while were at it!
PS- Also see Paul St.S' list- I HEARTILY AGREE! For one thing, the BRAVE US Naval Beach Battalions' Sailors & Corpsmen have been ENTIRELY IGNORED, as if they NEVER EXISTED! SHAMEFUL!!!
As I've mentioned innumerable times, I'd like to see US OFFICERS & ENLISTED MEN of ALL Services in Dress Uniforms. I'd also like to see A LOT MORE WWII GIs in pre-M1943 Combat Uniforms. The same goes for US Marines, which I'd like to see in the earlier HBT Uniforms, circa 1942/'43, as at Guadalcanal, for example. AND, most of them, prior to Autumn, 1944, when the M1943 Combat Boots were issued. There hasn't been the proper proportional representation of US WWII Combat Personnel dressed in the "Parsons" Jackets and M1938 Leggings. YES! I SAID IT AGAIN!!! Also, the inter-war era has been ignored, as well... "Kelly Helmets", Breeches and Riding Breeches, "Lace-up" Riding Boots, Cavalry- Steve, YOU know what I'm talking about...
We ALSO NEED MORE Tommies and ANZACS dressed in Tropical, Jungle, and Temperate Zone Combat AND Dress Uniforms. Moreover, the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines of other Nations, such as France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and literally the rest of the world, have been given short shrift! It is my opinion that THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE!!!
As I've said earlier, ALL of you have some really good ideas, but I'm not optimistic, at all... What gives with the model manufacturers..? Can't they see that many of us are sick and tired of the same old thing all of the time..?
I've waited patiently over the last 50 years, (I've been modelling for 58 years, now), for every yearly "New Model Kit" catalog from ALL model manufacturers, past and present, and I've grown used to disappointment. I have written to the manufacturers many times over the last 40 years, and have emailed them more than a few times over the last 10- To NO AVAIL...
The answers I get are usually:
"We thank you for your interest in (fill in Company Name) Models, but- blah, blah, blah..." or, NO ANSWER AT ALL...
So, I've given up entirely in communicating with model manufacturers...
My credo is: "Don't Hold Your Breath"...

Now Dennis, I hate to argue but I really don't think anyone is "forcing" you to explain or to be involved or, as you put it, "open your mouth." We realize that much of this stuff will most likely not come to fruition in the near future, if at all, but the only person who's really pointing this out is you, Dennis. We realize that there's a good probability that next week, instead of announcing a new M1IP, Dragon will most likely announce the 5th Tiger 1 to roll off of Dusseldorfs production line at 10:45:2.5 in the morning on Jan. 5, 1943 and it was commanded by the great Colonel Joachim Klink-Stein.
Instead of chiding the wishlist of someone who hopes to see their favorite vehicles one day enshrined in plastic (for example: "Do you guys REEEEALLY think that any of these "wish-things" will ever come to fruition..? Seriously..?", "Boy, you guys have got some reeeally high hopes and expectations...") why not just simply post up your list of vehicles you'd like to see (I know you already did, I'm just waxing philosophic here). No one here so far has said to anyone else "Shut up, we've had enough of you," or "We know already," or "'There goes (insert name) again with his M8 HMCs, M18s, etc, etc!!!'" Nobody has said that... At all.
Like I said, we all realize that except for a few subjects, much of the listed items are doomed forever to be but nice dreams that are stowed and continually hoped for (and scratch built so that a company WILL make it) because, like Robin said: "We're having fun dreaming and hoping though but, who knows, maybe some manufacturer gets an idea or two ...."

Maybe no one posted those kinds of remarks to anyone else, but I certainly DID receive those remarks, some people on this site DID post them, AND THEY WERE DIRECTED AT ME... Would you like for me to go back into my past posts to find them for you? THEY ARE IN MY ARCHIVES...
I also said that I wasn't going to mention them again, but GUESS WHAT? YOU decided to dig that up again, NOT ME!!! If you hate to argue so much, WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BRING THAT SUBJECT UP- AGAIN?!? ENOUGH, ALREADY! It's precisely this kind of personal nit-picking that pisses me off. Consider me gone...

Obviously you misconstrued the nature of my post. To each their own. If you believe my post to be combative, so be it.
Oh, I also wouldn't mind a Zamboni model. And figure to drive it too.

yet another 'Santa list':
A-10 Cruiser
AML 90 &60
German 247 scout cars, both 2 axle and 3 axle. (these are much more wanted than any 'paper panzers as they were actually used....)
BTR-40 (current offering is not the most accurate from what I've read.) IDF captured varients w/markings would be nice.
Russian ww2 37mm AA gun/trailer
A new WC ambulance? NAHHHH, c'mon I'm dreamin'!
FIGURES!(1/32 scale)
Winged Hussars are some pretty cool fools to say the least!
Blue coats, militia, Hessians, & Indian scouts. Us colonials could come up with some badass Christmas dioramas!
More Sikh troops in NA. OR at least a couple head sets to use as alternates for existing NA campaign Commonwealth troop kits.
Finally, let's do the Zulu Wars, and the Boer Wars!
Thanks Santa, stop by my hut and we'll have some single malt.......

I wish Rye Field and/or Meng would just go ahead and give us the early Abrams already.
I also wish the would give us a good, scratch good, GREAT! USMC M1A1 out of the box too.
And if Dragon is bored, a Panther A with zimmerit.
