working on the tools and stowage, using Tamiya jerry cans, I know they are not 1/32 scale but will look fine. Of course the cans will reduce the milage for the tank.

Nice to see this old girl being buyilt again. The First Large scale Sherman I made when I was 12. The only real hassle wit htheis one is the tracks
Al

IIRC Monogram made the same mistake as Tamiya did on their M3 by putting the end connectors in the middle of the where they could never attach any of the links together. Completely worthless no matter how thoroughly to try to cover up the mistake.

I made the mud from a slurry of dirt static grass, and white glue

I painted the mud slurry on the tracks and lower part of the tank and then painted it a dark mud color with some other colors to make it look like some of the mud was dried.

Looking really good Doug! Shame about the tracks on these kits but your mud works pretty good in hiding the end connectors.

Laughing at the bit about the mileage!

That mud is likely the only thing keeping the track links together

Very nice job. My favorite was the Panzer IV kit.

I belive the 1/32 Monogram M4 was the first model I had built with my terminally ill dad back in `70. I buit several others thru out the 70's, including the M4 with hedgerow cutter and screaming mimi. Love to get those kit for nostalgia reasons.

I use a paint called Reaper, it is made here in Texas and is a water based paint, I am using a lot of different colors and it would be hard to list them all but I will say that I use a very dark base and then work my way up the highlights to get the deep effect of the folds and such.

Doug,
Really, really nice job taking an "old dog" that most of us would turn our noses up to today, and turning it a stunning winner. I compliment you an your artistic and modeling skill-- let's see some more of these!

Doug, you are doing some fantastic work! I built this kit back in the day and my kit would be unrecognizable next to yours. Great job!

A very nice rendition of a kit that is nostalgic for many of us. Hard to believe the figures are vintage also. Awesome job on those. Great atmospheric dio as well. A far cry from my initial effort to recreate the dio on the Shep Paine Monogram box art Stug IV, the kit that got me into armor nearly 50 years ago.

I feel like I'm 16 again, and seeing one of Shep's mini dio-guides inside a Monogram box for the first time.
I built this same kit for a gift, about five years ago, and I have to say it was a lot of fun.
