Hello Robin,
Thank you for this additional information.
I saw dozens of the 728's lined up waiting to be used as hard targets on the gunnery ranges. It struck me back then that removing them from the roster was a bit of a hasty move.
Respectfully,
Allen

Quoted TextThis is already looking so much better than the old Academy kit.Already thinking of so great things to do with a new, better version.
There never was 1/35 M728 from Academy or in fact anyone else in plastic.
If Ulix had still been around the AFV-Club M728 would have been denounced as a cheap copy of the old Academy kit

I hope they will provide copper wire for the boom rigging.

Hopefully, the dozer blade will be available separately, too.

I was thinking and hoping the same thing.

To install the blade on an M60 series tank, you would need more than just the blade. The M728 had all of the plumbing, hydraulic reservoir, filter, and pump internal. An M60 blade tank had a section of the left rear fender replaced with a hydraulic reservoir and filter, along with fittings for the hoses that traveled up under the left side of the hull, to the reservoir, and into the left rear of the tank to the pump (which was internal, in the engine compartment on a PTO).
M728 CEV left rear w/out tank, hoses, etc.
M60A2 Blade Tank. You can see the reservoir and filter on the left rear fender, and the hoses that come out of them and go under and into the hull.
TM diagram.
Check this thread for complete 1/35 M9 dozer blade kit options.

Is it just me, or are the roadwheels in the rendering funny looking?

You are correct. The vehicle appears to be sitting at an angle with forced perspective. The forced perspective has skewed the road wheels slightly.
Some digital artists have to be more careful with the mouse.
I am hoping for an actual dozer tank kit like they did with the Centurion.

No, I meant they appear "spoked" or have ridges running out from the hubs. I thought CEVs had regular M60-type wheels?

Those are standard aluminum road wheels. Nothing odd about them other than looking oblong and out of line.
I wonder if they will include Vietnam War markings? The M728 was the only turreted M60 variant to serve in Vietnam.

Primeportal:
Only "smooth" wheels:
From FAS, maybe from some official documentation:
Standard M60 aluminum (the ribbed ones) or the "smooth" steel wheels used by the M48, or even mix-and-match (brrrr)

So if all the turret pieces are on one sprue, then all the dozer bits on another.... I bet there will be unused reservoir and pipe pieces on the sprue or a clipped missing piece from said sprue for a coming dozer gun tank kit.

Too bad the boom mounting points were not molded integral to the turret casting. I can see some minor alignment problems there in the AFV photos.
Have already begun planning on drilling thru these turret mounting points and installing a single piece of either properly sized brass or plastic tubing.
