I'm with Paul & Eric. Let's get back to modeling and leave religion for some other time on some other site.

...It would not be unlikely that people would attend church not because they discovered religion so much as a slap in the face to the cult of Adolf Hitler...
Excuse me with all due respect but do you really believe that a Dictator in power for just 11 years has succeeded in removing the Christian faith from a Christian people for at least 1000 years? ... not even Stalin remained in power for much longer he succeeded in this, you do not need priests and Churches to have faith and pray, is something that you can do at home or other places and then go back to the church when you feel more confident that you can do it in the sunlight or in any case having nothing to lose, thinking that they only did to annoy the Austrian Corporal as a child would make souds to me pretty ridiculous and disrespectful to these peoples ,also because the Nazi regime was not famous for its sense of humor...
I don't think Uncle Joe managed to stamp out religion in the USSR, no matter how he tried. In fact he supposedly used the Russian Orthodox Church as an ally when he found it a necessity. As for Uncle Adolf, going to church would be a good way of saying, "Well, you proved to be a poor god!" The same book mentioned rebellious boys wearing longer hair and saying "Heil Benny!" (meaning Benny Goodman).

dear Tom,
Don't make it worse!
Stop reacting on this forum about this, totally off subject, theme, read a bit more about German/European history, esp. Germany in the 20th century, and, please, do listen to what people from that continent may tell you.
Happy Eastern with a lot of modeling time.

This discussion has become pseudo-political and should be frozen by the appropriate moderator. It no longer serves to answer the initial question(which has been done many times, with great effort).

Wallfahrtskirche, -kapelle, Kapelle, as stated above should help you find nice pictures.
BTW: I pay a "forced" tax (I was raised Protestant) to the government (church tax) which was introduced during the Nazi reign. It was imposed and raked in by the state and is then distributed to the church. All Bishops in Germany are additionally paid for by the government since 193X. The churches received a life-long right by Adolf to receive these funds and to this day, the German government does obey. (Most Germans don't even know about this Bishop arrangement^^)
Just as a little info for those interested. This matter goes way beyond a modelling forum topic, so relax guys. Don't get too involved into your discussion! This is about modelling and some side info.

I was not aware of this. Thanks for sharing. Here it goes to church/confession you are registered with, if you do not belong to any, you do not pay this tax.
Thanks fir the info again.

Hi guys,
In Poland we to have many small churches. Below I show a few examples. First one is in my city, his architecture is different than the rest of churches in Poland. Was build when Gliwice were a part of Germany.

I didn't know they had wooden churches in Europe. Of course they might have been temporary expedients, as presumably church buildings weren't immortal-fires, floods, and general decay would take their toll. The church building where "Silent Night" originated did not last into the twentieth century.

I am from the south of Switzerland on the border with Italy is only 4 years i live in Australia and in the german side of the country is pretty usual to have small churches in wood and not for temporary expedients but becose this was the way you build houses outside the town and city's in my region every old house was made in granit and you can find
Hundreds of very tiny churches made in the same way's and same size the only difference is the micro bell tower
This is a small one near my village

Just in my village of 2000 people we have between big and small at least 5-6 churches also becose in the past the rich family or peoples/comunity saved from avalance or other eccident, desease etc if have money build a small church or chappel to thanks god or eaven painting called "Ex Voto"

This Tax is born to pay back the losses of land the Roman Church have when the "Patti Lateranensi" was signed and never really changed a lot,the Church in Italy was and is still very powerfull also at political level eaven if is not part of the country in teory and Mussolini know that but this is maeby to political for the forum and off topic

This is not, nor was intended to be a theological discussion, as in "Does God exist?" The whole idea in the first place was, "Did church attendance increase as the Third Reich was collapsing?" which is a question of fact. My Osprey book says yes, and it doesn't matter whether the Germans suddenly discovered religion or if it was meant to be a slap in the face to the atheistic Hitler.
