Ammo of mig has their own stainless steel agitator balls so they should work with all types paint Amig8003.

Be warned that you might not get quality stainless and get a chrome plated steel bearing instead that will rust in your paint. You get what you pay for buy cheap get garbage. Test any ball buy putting it in salt water for a week.

Very true. Worth the money in this case.

Interestingly the shaker, i have done a mixer using a electric toothbrush,i can without any problems or spills also Vallejo without opening the dropper and i ad 8mm marine grade stainless steel SAE 316 or also haematite beads are good,heavy,cheap and dont rust

I found AK,Ammo,etc Bearing balls to small and not heavy enough,and for the same price a can buy more and bigger size

This is my mixer/sander DIY done from a cheap brush, the rod steel is that there originally inside the brush head, I merely chop the plastic and bend the tip,it's fine to mix Humbrol, Tamiya , Lifecolor, MM etc ... for not spill and splashes i took a cap of an old jar and made a hole so you can mix a closed jar, I replaced the original rod for Vallejo with a longer one made of brass and bending a little 'less than the tip enters without problems in the dropper bottle and because i add always a bearing balls or 2 help to mix well the bottom, in an original head I cut the bristles of the toothbrush so i can "glue" with Velcro some sandpaper discs to be used for sanding.

I received my Robard shaker today. I did purchase the AC model. Yes it does walk across the work bench, but I used 4 pieces of double face mounting tape and it stayed in place. I shook up 3 bottles of AK, and 3 bottles of Vallejo ( a couple of 60 ml also) each for 2 minutes. From there the colors went to the airbrush. All had the right mix and sprayed perfect. I guess now we will see how long it lasts.

Received my Robart 410 Shaker (battery version) today and gave a try with various paint bottles. Vallejo, Mr Color/Mr Hobby, Mig Ammo, Tamiya all work well and the paints were mixed thoroughly. However, there are a few observations that I would like to share.

(1) Even with the weight of 4 Type D batteries, the shaker still moves around while turned on.

(2) The design for battery change is not user-friendly at all. Need to remove 4 screws securing the bottom plate in order to insert/replace batteries. And the screws were screwed into 4 plastic shaft only, not sure how long that will last after repeated battery change. (see pics)

(3) The rubber strap is a bit tight for the Tamiya acrylic bottles, have to pull hard and secure it on the last hole.

Overall I am satisfied but not sure how long it will last. If I can choose again, I will go with the AC version instead.

I got my Robart Battery model.

I use Procell D batteries (Duracell Professional Line - Hospital grade) and due to weight it does not move at all.

My set of 4 D's are lasting 2 months on heavy usage.

I got a robards shaker and it works well, you just have add an agitator to the paint. I used little stainless balls that I got years ago, 1 or 2 in the bottle and then a session in the shaker.

Just have to make sure you've got no-kidding stainless steel balls (so to speak...) if you're using acrylics. I added what I thought were SS balls from a bearing race and found out they where just plain steel when they started rusting at the bottom of the bottle.

I learned that this same way also

For Vallejo I use a jig saw on slow speed...
Attach the bottle to the saw blade with an elastic band...bingo..

I've been using the Robart for a couple of decades. I'll put agitators in most paints, especially if they've been sitting for a while. Flats will settle out and flat enamels settle out pretty quick, same with metallics and if they sit for a while it can take quite a bit to get the pigments to mix.

With a little agitator in the paint? The longest I've left it in the shaker was a 3-4 minutes max. Paint that had settled out for a long period I'd let it run about a minute, stop for a couple more and do this a few times to get it smooth. Test it with a tooth pick if I still see small chunks it goes in for another session.

Jigsaw with a hand clamp for me, and the ammo steel balls. works wonders every time
