It was always my understanding that the voids in those locations were filled with concrete, I was not aware that vehicles were produced with concrete filled metal formers and I cannot remember ever having seen anything that looks like this.

What ever happened to doing it yourself ? We got putty , green stuff or you could even use that cheap air dry stuff they sell at the dollar store . Been there , done that about 40 years ago to the my 1st Tamiya Stug .

First of all you need a decent late war Stug G with zimmerit to build your own concrete armor on it.. oh wait there is none widely available anymore?

Come on guys in EVERY news thread there are some people who barge in crying how stupid/useless/undemanded/what-if new subjects are.
Why are you commenting if you aren't interested? Just leave the thread and be happy.

I for one love this Stug! Now i have the chance to get my hands on a last/late production Stug without the need of adding zimmerit myself.
The DS tracks are a bit of a letdown but thats expected of Dragon nowadays.

I'm no expert on concrete, but wouldn't the concrete be damaged quite fast when getting hit by large MG and AT cannons? It's probably not reinforced with steel rods I suppose? Was this done in the factory or by the crews? (EDIT: field modification...)

So the "poured cement" is made up of several parts? And you're going to have to use putty anyway to fill the joints? Like others already said, I used plastic wood once, and epoxy putty a second time to achieve same results, and matching the above pic. Probably better than Dragon's effort. I think they fumbled the ball, yet again.

edit: Maybe I misread where it says the concrete is in separate pieces. In retrospect, I guess it means two separate add-on parts, which is much better.

You don't absolutely have to have a StuG with zimmerit for this one. Late war implies no zimmerit. And post-zimmerit StuG's could be found with concrete armor.

Despite all the naysayers, I've been wanting to build this stug, for some time. Just yesterday, I decided that I wanted to build another stug. I guess Dragon was in my head. I will definitely be purchasing this one.

I know there were Stugs with concrete armor and without zimmerit and i admit for those you can easily make your own concrete but the new announced Stug is one with zimmerit and that the case i really like Dragons offer this time.

Maybe we have the choice and can build it without the concrete insets to depict a "normal" zimmerited late Stug (thats what i hope in fact) and if so.. i'll definetly buy 2 of them.

Yeah these sets exist but.. Dragon models are expensive as they are and you have to spend another 25-30€ for AM tracks what makes the sole model around 100€.
And another 50€ for Atak zimmerit and Panzerart goodies.

Now we can avoid the expensive extra sets and thats awesome.

I guess this kit will work for some. It's easy enough to make yourself too. I've seen quite a few variations on the concrete rigs. I suppose if you want you could build the Tamiya Finnish version, it has the concrete, side plates for the tub and some rather poor logs for the armour. The original German crew is included as well ...

Hey come on guys , you have every version of the Stug III available to you in 35th .I tend to build in 48th so i have make most of these versions. I dont think you really appreciate just how good you have got it compared to other scales.

Concrete armor, zimmerit, plus a good price -- I'd say this may be a good bundle. Sure, one may may do the concrete, zimmerit as DIY projects, come up with a very convincing depiction -- so do give yourself a congratulatory pat in the back. But there are those who either can't or won't, and this surely will be seen as a welcome kit.

I find this funny and sad at the same time: CONCRETE? Big deal, I was doing this with Milliput TEN YEARS AGO! Wow, its ever so hard to put some putty in the appropriate places...and zimmerit was much the same. We're being fed a steady diet of nonsense and told that we should smile when its mentioned. Probably about the time when mainstream manufacturers decided that a hundred dollars for a kit was what we'd accept.
