What a cool show - so much inspirational work! I assume it was somewhere in England...?

In my humble opinion, and allowing for the fact that I have only 4 pictures to base my judgements on....
I think the storm trooper from WWI is a better candidate than Monty for the best f show! I think the work is much much more complete and detailed, especially the gear and leather webbing. Spot on and some of the finest leather treatments v seen...in pictures of models...on my iPad.... nuff said...

Tim, hi, sorry, silly omission on my part, yes, this show was in Folkestone in England, the same venue as the EuroMilitaire show; to save you looking it up, it's the most south eastern part of the UK, nearest to France.
C Johnsen - it is a pretty strange looking building; from the street at the top it looks tiny, with the big hall being built into the cliff. The competition room at this event is in that section suspended on the stilts.
Dave - I wouldn't worry about upsetting anyone with your observation as they were both done by the same guy, Rob Henden, the stormtrooper getting him the silver medal, and he also won bronze with the Corporal Jones bust. I personally really liked that single gold winning entry in the converted / scratchbuilt class. As we know however, judging often comes down to looking at flaws or errors etc. and as I didn't get to pick it up and view it from different angles then I can't really back up my judgment. Can't say I'm a big bust fan. (That sounds slightly wrong, I know).
Interesting however to compare the stormtooper that you are referring to with the other stormtroooper entry - no disrespect to the other one, but I agree with you that you can see the class in Rob Henden's painting skills.

Matthew,
Very good coverage of this show and very respectable entries in the images shown. Is that your Chinese MBT I saw in the one image? Did you enter any categories? Hope you achieved some success if so! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers,
Jan

Jan, yes, that is my Chinese MBT with the digital camouflage, not the one crewed by minions witb banana decals...
The Dicker Max with the very tall trees is mine too - those are the trees I was working on recently that I sent you the photo of. Someone else must have thought they had come out OK too.

Yes, I was pretty sure that the digital one was what I saw you posting on this site.

Amusing, the Dicker Max escaped my notice as for some reason I thought it was a larger scale! The look of the trees, their setting and that of the general diorama is very good. Out of curiosity, what manufacturer are the figures, they look quite good. May I presume that the "Silver" indication item presumes that the diorama was to receive an honour and be noted? If so, congratulations! Oh, and so much for certain daughters not believing in your trees?
Cheers,
Jan

Thanks for the coverage Matthew - it was good to see you again! Your pics are very welcome.
@Dave - I hear ya on the figs, but as I was one of the judges in that class I can confide that the true decider was that the stormtrooper was clearly a VERY VERY well-painted model, but when I picked up Monty and looked I didn't see a model at all - I saw Monty himself! The painting was so good and yet so subtle that it allowed the person to really shine through. And of course they were by the same guy... Often you need to see the models in person to see the difference. (I know some of the A/C folks weren't happy, but there were technical faults like spatter and glue spots on some of the most otherwise-excellent entries. Oh, well...)

@Stephen very eye catching model, hence the editor's choice as the promo image I guess.
@Tom, and good to see you again as well.
@Jan, I realise to my shame that you asked me the same question regarding the figures two years ago and I never answered you... I will revert to that thread to do so, rather than talking about my model in this thread.
