Hi there Jerry, another great looking dio from the past. Great to hear you are doing good & I think it's an awesome gift & very kind of you to part ways from such a dedicated and time consuming project. I have been away for a while myself dealing with my dads poor health issues. He has cancer in the bladder and it's terrible to see him suffer... I am strong and positive for him and help him 24/7 with all his daily stuff because it's the right thing to do... I've had zero time for pleasures of any kind including hobbies but that's okay. Better days will come around and my dio will be there waiting for me. Till then, looking at the many wonderful projects here will keep me pleased and satisfied. Thanks for sharing yet another piece of art with us all.

assuming your using a Windows PC (if your using a MAC, you way ahead in the game). Get a copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements, or Photoshop CS series. In it your will find programs to convert to grey scale. 90% of the cameras will not shoot true B&W, but revert to grey scale. There is also another feature to convert over to the real old tin type prints.

It also allows you to alter the color scales to get back to the original color. There is a way to calibrate the colors, but have never done it on anything newer than a Windows XP format.

Nothing tells the true quality of a photo like black & white. It doesn't lie to your eyes.

Thanks Gary for the heads up with all the good info. I will have to keep it in mind but I must admit I really don't want to delve into the computer thing any more than I already have. I would much rather build stuff. But....ya never know.

I own way too many cameras, but my real passion is in true macro. Have a bunch of black & white film in the freezer. Fuji and some Leica's are the only ones that shoot real B&W contrary to what a sales person will tell you. Even then the Fuji is still not upto par with ISO 50 roll film. If I seriously want a great photo, I use my Pentax 645. Nothing comes close without taking out a second mortgage.

Photoshop is a pain, but Elements is much easier. There are also a couple simpler programs out there that are also cheaper. Just can do so much more with Elements.
