Looks fantastic Colin.
Try some black first just in case. Often that is enough if the indent is deeper enough.

Some rusty tracks...
Wow - looks like the whole tank got destroyed! Nothin' but a pair of smoking tracks left after the blast...

(Seriously, yours is a sweet build!)

Best scratch model of a cloaked tank I've ever seen....

Yes, the Klingons would be proud
. Anyway, getting close to calling this one done, added the rusty and sooty areas from the fire damage:

That is some excellent paint work Colin. Very realistic.

Ive been following this campaign for a while with great interest, and finally decided to jump in at the last minute with a Trumpeter KV-1 Mod 1942. The simple Trumpy kit should be easy enough to damage in the month we have left.

My inspiration for the build will be the first reference picture below. There seems to be no shortage of pictures showing wrecked Soviet AFV's so there's a lot to work with.

So far Ive been working on the details on the upper hull, and engine compartment. Im salvaging an engine from a Bronco kit and engine parts from other Trumpeter kits to fill in some of the through the hatch details.

Think I'll stick a fork in my Octopus Tiger, if I do much more I'll probably just bugger it up. Think I'll make a small vignette for it, but not sure if I will put the backwards swastika on the front glacis.

Cheers!

I made a lot of progress last night on the KV. Ill be spending a few hours today cutting, cleaning, and assembling the plastic indy track links from a Bronco kit.

Hey Colin,
I echo what Joe said. Since he wrote it, I don’t have to!
Great job!

I was able to get a lot of bench time in this weekend, and I think I might be able to pull this project off before the deadline.
Ive painted up the KV and started to apply the burned colors. Ive also completed the painting of the tracks which isn't pictured. Still have a ways to go on this one!

I have never 'burned out' a tank, although Ive always wanted to. The only other experience I have with real battle damage was on a Soviet What If build a while back - coincidentally based on the JS-III chassis.

Well your one step closer than some of us others. I haven't been game to try a burn out yet. Looking great too.

Wow, Colin, very convincing. It looks real.

Shawn - I like the extras like the motor that are exposed when something blew inside. Your damaged wheel sure looks good also.
