Tunisian Tigers were RAL 8000 Grunbraun with RAL 7008 Graugrun camo patterns.

Google "Bovington Tiger".

s it because Tiger 332 should be finished in color/s for the N. Africa campaign? If so, what would be the appropriate color/s?

That's not an easy question to answer. We have many photos of Tigers in s.Pz.Abt.503 but they are rarely fresh new ones. The battalion seemed to be very fond of repainting their Tigers and we don't know what colours they used.

They were sent some grey Tigers that ended up in their 3rd company but 332 was not one of them. All other Tigers sent to the 503 should, in theory, be painted in a Tropen scheme because the unit operated so far to the south.

There is a photo of 332 with a distinct camouflage pattern on it but the light colour does not seem light enough to be RAL 8020. Personally I think they used mud or paint over the first Tropen scheme, which would show up as medium dark on a B/W photo.

Did a search and found the discussion on Tiger Im Focus.

Cheers,

You are quite welcome sir.

Another question regarding 503 Tigers for David if I may. Is there any documentation that indicates 503 was originally destined for Africa? We know of Pz IV's in tropen #2 operating in Russia. Could this battalion have been diverted from the Mediterranean as well?

In November 1942, the nascent 503 battalion was preparing to deploy in Africa. They already had a few Tigers which they prepared for the climate.

But, "tropen" paint on a tank doesn't mean it was diverted from Africa. It was a standard scheme for southern Russia.
