Hi everyone. I've seen a few articles about how the US Army Abrams tanks will now be painted a solid green color, as opposed to the NATO 3 color scheme. Does anyone have any info on what the color is going to be? An FS number would be great, too.

Thanks!

So far, only a few tanks in Europe are being painted from sand to green. Based on how they are being painted, by hand with rollers, my guess is it is not a standard FS color that is being used. My guess is that it is a locally bought NATO greenish color that is temporary. It is definitely not CARC Green.

Judge by yourself. Paint is german made, and basically is a water-soluble powder, washable if necessary with high pressure waterjet. Colour is not included in the RAL chart, and doubt in the FS.

Look at the label, you see the 6031 from RAL 6031, which is actually the bronce green used on Bundeswehr vehicles.
It also reads "Umtarnfarbe", which means it is the washable variant.

JavierDeLuelmo, thank you so much for this image. I was trying to read the can, on another one and couldn't make anything out. I did some research from your image and came to the conclusion, that Thomas Voigt posted below, it is RAL 6031 Bronze Green.

Silly me Thomas, I checked the lower number, not the upper, correct one! Thanks!

My question now is, what are my best paint options for RAL 6031 green, used on Bundeswehr vehicles? I prefer to limit it to Tamiya, Vallejo, Ammo of Mig or even the new Mission Models color line.

RAL 6031 is German version of NATO Green. You can use Tamiya XF-67. While the Tamiya color is a bit closer to the US color, the difference is minimal.

The overall green is just a temp cover for the sand colored vehicles.

Factory vehicles are still either sand or three color NATO.

I'm w the 1st ID at Ft Riley and brand new or refurbished vehicles come mostly in Sand/Tan (really more yellow) or Tiricolor. Replacement parts are usually solid green which defeats the purpose of the factor/robot applied TriColor. Originally, the though my was that replacement parts would ha e an exact pattern match because if the tight specs for the TriColor.

This thread has me interested in painting the Dragon kit I have into this. What are the things circled in red, though?
