Dear all,

I'm well into my RFM 1/35 Breacher project but I'm stuck on where the hydraulic pipes run to from the front of the hull to the mine clearer hydraulic rams. Does anyone have any knowledge or a photo. I've looked on line but there aren't any clear pictures.

Thankyou HP. I ve looked at the photos before. Excellent build. When I've looked at some photos that show two armoured pipes (black) coming from the housing at the front down onto the arms. I presume from there they go to the underside of the hydraulic ram?

There is a manifold behind the plow mount, the hoses from the cylinders run to that, then two hoses run from the manifold to the connections on the ABV at the front left (driver's view). There's a good photo of it in a walk-around on a photo hosting site but I can't seem to find it now! It was a USMC ABV in Afghanistan. I'll keep looking...

Thanks Jim. I'm struggling to find a good photo. They must be a good armoured hose for the position they are in. I'm going to use solder so I get the curves right. They must also come up under the rams to a connector? I could just do with finding a good side shot?

We've got a bunch of these out here at Ft Riley. They are over with the engineers and the CAV.

Problem is, most of the time, the breeching mechanism is removed and just stashed behind the tank. I guess it's pretty clunky having that thing on there all the time in garrison. Looks like you could really do some serious damage stubbing your toe on one!

I'll try to get over to the engineers and see if I can get any pics of the things, perhaps even dismounted, they may be useful.

That would be really good thanks Bruce. I found a couple last night and I think I can just about a them but it would be good to confirm.

Sabot/Verlinden has an ABV book, in the Warmachines series. I'm not sure if it would have the images you need to see, though.

Your ABV looks really good from where I'm sitting. I have this kit myself and I totally agree that it will be a challenge to build.

It was just awkward from the start. I used solder for the hydraulic lines. You can get the right shape then. I will try to download some more photos but I'm having problems doing it from kit maker.

There are two hydraulic manifolds located on the front of the ABV. One manifold is located on the plow itself for the two hydraulic pistons that raise the plow blades and one manifold located on the front of the tank for the two hydraulic pistons that raise the whole plow. The little armored box in front of the left headlight connects the forward and return line for the plow blades and under neath that runs the return and forward line for the manifold that raise the whole plow.

I have done a bunch of line drawings and research of both the Marine and Army version in anticipation of me buying my own kit or Armorama letting me do the sample review for the sight. Jim and Darren are letting me do the sample review for the sight, so as soon as I receive it, I will get to work on it.
