Hi friends,
Another idea for small diorama with the excellent Bravo-6 set of US marine sniper team. There's review on the forum, very good details. Only the rifle barrels are bend, but Vladi gave me an advice how to fix it with boiled water.

Starting with the face, as usual, some touch up and continuing with the uniform

Painting the uniform. The only difficulty was aligning the rifle and the hands.

Thank you!

Just to mention-I bought one of these brushes recently-Raphael 8404 size 1, and they are way better than anything I had to this date. This is my first figure, painted with this brush, and even with size 1 you can paint very fine details, great point. Surely will buy more, if needed, just great

I started the face of the spotter. He's an African american, first time doing that type of face, so I hope is looking good.

Looking good so far. Nice wood grain on the rifle stock. One thing I did notice is that the Sniper's helmet is on backwards. I don't know if you intended on doing that or not. With a soft cap or cover like the spotter is wearing, one might turn int around so the brim does not interfere with the scope, but the front part of the helmet usually does not interfere with the use of the scope, so to the casual viewer it may be confusing.

One thing I found when using the paper plants is that you'll have to touch up the edges with paint or a marker once the leaves are removed from the paper as it leaves a thin white line where the paper was cut. If you can do that before putting the plant together, it will help make it easier. I made the plants first then tried to paint the edges and it was more difficult since they were already bent to shape, etc.

Can't wait to see more progress on this project. Keep up the great work.

Cheers,
James

James, thank you for the comment!

I didn't notice the helmet was backwards, sorry, will correct that. It's only fixed on the head with White tack, so easy fix . Also I will add helmet straps later.
And yes, the plants need touch with paint at the cutting places.

Best regards,
Venelin

Thanks, friends!

I wanted the spotter with different uniform for visual interest, so I made camouflaged pants and cap, also the shirt is different green tone. There's need for some touch ups here and there-the inner hands should be lighter, the hair-darker, boots etc., but I like how it turned out

The concept of the base, it will be in layers. At the lower part I will do rice field for visual interest.

Venelin, I don't think USMC wore camo pants in Vietnam. As far as I know, ERDL camo was issued to Recon and Spec Ops operatives only.

Hi, Mario
Didn't Marines have recon units also? I'm pretty sure that I saw several pictures of marine snipers in camo, but maybe I'm mistaken.

Although USMC used ERDL camo since 1969 enough widely, I`m not sure about mix of camo trousers with OG jacket.
Venelin, also you can paint binocular case, it was made of brown leather.

An outstanding job - first class paintwork here; one thing, and NOT a criticism of the finish at all, but have Bravo 6 got the boot sole pattern right? I recall back in 1982 we (British Army) were issued US Jungle boots in Belize and the sole was completely different. Can anyone clarify?

As I say, not a criticism of a first class finish.

Nice job on both of those figures.
Will look great when done I bet.

Cheers
